In order to study fundamental properties of such polymers, a model system of four polyurethane macromonomers that differ in the average number of double bonds per molecule was developed. Free radical copolymerization of the polyurethane macromonomers with acrylates was carried out in aqueous phase using the polyurethanes as the reactive emulsifier. The stability of the product dispersions depends on the average number of double bonds per macromolecule and the weight ratio of hydrophilic polyurethane to the acrylic part. The content of the polyurethane double bonds and their conversion was measured by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and by a titrimetrical method. Fracture toughness and energy release rate data for ceramer films based on a linseed oil alkyd, a sunflower oil alkyd, and a commercial alkyd with titanium diisopropoxide bis(acetylacetonate), titanium(IV) isopropoxide, and zirconium(IV) propoxide are presented and compared to previously reported tensile data. Differences between the fracture data and the tensile data demonstrate the usefulness of fracture toughness testing. The energy release rate at fracture may be the one property to maximize in order to optimize all of the other coating properties. It may therefore be a great aid in the optimization of coating formulations. Data, from dynamic mechanical thermal analysis indicate that there may be a correlation between fracture properties and secondary relaxation processes in the films. The oil droplets dispersed in water (O/W emulsions), are processed under high shear force to increase the interfacial area by reducing the droplet size in the range of 50 nm to 500 nm. These oil droplets are separated from each other through continuous phase, acts as nano reactor for polymerization. The typical emulsions are stabilized against Ostwald ripening and collisional degradation by using surfactant and low molecular wejght highly water insoluble co-stabilizer. The droplet should have sufficient stablllty belore polymerization, which will result in 1:1 copy of droplets to particles. This method is very different from the conventional method in terms of nucleation mechanism. This engineeied method enables to create structured colloidal particles having different morphology. The miniemulsion process can be usednot only for radical polymerization but also for poly-adddion and poly-condensation to make variety of polymer, copolymer, organic-inorganic hybrid etc. The reaction starts at the individual nano sized droplets for O/W emulsions that also makes easier for solid encapsulation inside the polymeric particles. The review shows the mechanism of the process and related robustness of the polymerization in different aspects. The different ways to stabilize the droplets before polymerization has also been reviewed. Note de contenu : - Preparation of miniemulsion.

By increasing silica content, an increase of silica particles in size and number was observed. Small silica particles were preferentially present at the surface. The influence of the silica content on the König hardness, indentation hardness, and elastic modulus was minor. The improved scratch resistance determined for a hybrid coating with 11.4 wt% silica, compared to a similar organic coating without silica, was attributed to small silica particles preferentially present at the surface. Tags : 'Moulage hybride plastique/métal' Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Multi-component technology - Amalgamating several methods into a single-stage process offers the possibility of combining different materials and functions into one mold. A new hybrid injection molding process, for example, enables the production of complex plastic parts with integrated metallic conductors for electronics applications in short process chains. The development makes allowance for the trend towards an increasing hybridization of products and processes. Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=10116
