1,160 production hours gained / Jochen Mitzler in KUNSTSTOFFE INTERNATIONAL, Vol. 103, N° 12 (12/2013)

Titre : 1,160 production hours gained Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Jochen Mitzler , Auteur ; Götz Sheibe, Auteur ; Anika Marggrander, Auteur Année de publication : 2013 Article en page(s) : p. 50-53 Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Fully automated mold change. In the future, injection molding will mean much more than producing acceptable parts in rapid succesion. Especially if customers demand just-in-time delivery, or even that the parts are supplied directly to the assembly line "just-in-sequence". The only option then is flexible automation of plastics production. A pilot plant at K2013 demonstrated impressively that high flexibilty need not only be achieved at the cost of productivity. Note de contenu : - One control system for all technical disciplines
- Short cycles require hand-shaking between two robots
- Enormous time savings in mold change

Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Stefan Roth, Auteur ; Hendrik Sura ; Bernd Küster, Auteur Année de publication : 2004 Article en page(s) : p. 65-67 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Practical comparison of simulation techniques - More and more 3D programs for simulating the injection moulding process have become available in recent years. Especially as regards compact geometries, the three-dimensional part meshing demonstrated here promises to deliver more accurate simulation results than conventional 2.5D simulation methods, which reduce part geometry to a shell model for the purposes of simulation. The following article uses the example of a pump component to compare the advantages and disadvantages of both simulation techniques with regard to the reproducibility of the filling pattern and their practical implementation in everyday use. TissésIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : The woven construction of high-performance fibres plays an important role in ballistic protection. This paper reports on recent research on the engineering design and evaluation of 2D and 3D fabrics, emphasising the influence of ballistic fabrics' construction on ballistic performance. Based on preliminary research, a new fabric concept with material continuity and enhanced yarn gripping was put forward. Accordingly, fabrics with enhanced yarn gripping were engineered, manufactured, and evaluated. The result showed improved ballistic performance in term of both projectile penetration and trauma impact. Based on the new concept, 2D and 3D fabric constructions were discussed for ballistic protection. The construction of 3D panels was investigated and it was found that angle-layering for creating panels improves the isotropie and hence impact performance. Hybrid design of ballistic panels from the commonly used woven and UD fabrics indicated that it is possible to improve ballistic performance by using layer materials according to the impact mechanism. Finite element (FE) simulation was also used to investigate strain distribution in ballistic fabrics and panels, providing information for the optimisation of fabric construction.
