Predicting the effects of beamhouse processing depends on quantifying the hydrolytic reactions which dominate these steps, the removal of components : this is relatively imprecise because currently the reactions are understood only in the broadest terms or analysis must rely on comparative assessments.
Predicting the effects of fixation reactions, the tanning processes ; is more certain : analysis requires knowledge of the chemical constitution and reactions of the reagents and an understanding of how all reagents interact both with the substrate and each other. This thinking must extend beyond conventional tanning, to include reactions of all dyes and fatliquors and indeed fixation any other reagent bound to the leather in post beamhouse processing.
The link-lock theory of tanning and the stepwise mechanisms of fixation are useful for analysing how the properties of leather are created. Prediction of developmental processing outcomes depends on combining an understanding of the chemistry of leather technology with insights into leather science from the latest thinking about the principles of leather making.
Using the analytical thinking in reverse allows processes and even reagents to be predicted and to be created to produce leathers or collagenic biomaterials with predetermined required properties and performance.Note de contenu : - PROCESSING CONDITIONS : Float length - Mechanical action - pH - Temperature - Time

Titre : Determination of methyldibromoglutaronitrile in cosmetic products by high performance liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : J. Rooselaar, Auteur ; J. W. Weyland, Auteur Année de publication : 1993 Article en page(s) : p. 23–31 Note générale : Bibliogr.

In this study, the coating structure of a solvent-based polyurethane was analyzed to establish correlations between the intrinsic spatial scaling properties of the coating and UV exposure time. Atomic force microscopy and laser scanning confocal microscopy were employed to map surface structures over a range of scales from 80 nm to 80 mm. The roughness of the polyurethane surface was characterized in terms of scaling exponents using detrended fluctuation analysis to identify long-range, power law relations, and to correct for inhomogeneities in the surface structure. The time-dependence of the roughening process was also determined and correlated with changes in gloss. Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=5581
