LI-LVIII Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : 'Peinture eau' émulsion' Solvant Formulation Glycol Ether Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Formulators have been called to the challenge of reformulation of waterborne coatings systems to meet new regulations. In any waterborne coating, changing solvents will affect many properties. In ambient cure (air dry) water-based systems, the temperature and humidity at which the coating is dried also impacts the film properties. Solvent replacement in coatings requires an effort to evaluate the coating for the performance characteristics required for the particular end use of that coating. The desired paint properties can be realized through appropriate reformulation. General rules for solvent reformulations will be presented and demonstrated in several industrial latex formulations. Effect of pigment concentrations and dispersing agents on various color properties of the molded specimens, such as reflectance versus wavelength characteristics, angular dependency, K/S data, and flop index were evaluated using the CIE system with goniospectrophotometer. Surface image analysis was also conducted. Based on the above parameters, design equations were developed. The study revealed that the effective concentration of the interference pigment was 0.5% and better color characteristics were found when poly (ethylene glycol) was used as a dispersing agent. PALS data were obtained before and after specimen water equilibration. Specimens were bisphenol A epoxide (B) and/or glycol epoxide (G) cured with a polyamide. Free volume sites increased linearly and cavity sizes decreased linearly with epoxide B:G ratio. Glass transition temperature (Tg) increased with epoxide B:G ratio. Water molecules in wet epoxy B filled approximately six percent of the cavities. Epoxy G cavity size increased 11.4% after water equilibrium and was ascribed to cavity expansion. PALS results differed for commercial corrosion inhibitors in wet and dry mixtures of these epoxides. Note de contenu : - INTRODUCTION : PALS background - Polymer/water interactions
