Effect of pigment concentrations and dispersing agents on various color properties of the molded specimens, such as reflectance versus wavelength characteristics, angular dependency, K/S data, and flop index were evaluated using the CIE system with goniospectrophotometer. Surface image analysis was also conducted. Based on the above parameters, design equations were developed. The study revealed that the effective concentration of the interference pigment was 0.5% and better color characteristics were found when poly (ethylene glycol) was used as a dispersing agent. Molecular defoamers represent a novelclass of defoamers that break foam on a molecular level, which is unlike conventional defoamers that utilize macroscopic physical incompatibility within a coating formulation. This is accomplished by the ability of the molecular defoamer to adsorb at the air-water interface of a foam bubble and, thereby, displace some of the surfactants that stabilize the foam. Based on a fundamental understanding of the effects of basic adsorption parameters, innovative nonsilicone molecular defoamers were developed that provide long-term foam control, effectively reduce both surface tension and foam in a variety of emulsion polymers, and decrease significantly the level of defects in waterbome coating applications. A synergistic performance benefit was obtained when these molecular defoamers were used in combination in an acrylic, industrial maintenance formulation.

The dyed fabrics were then treated with anionic, cationic, nonionic, micro and macro emulsion silicone softeners. CIELAB color coordinates (L*, a*, b*, C* and h) were measured with reflectance spectrophotometer. The lightness (L* value) for samples dyed with disazo and polyazo direct dyes (orange and red dyes) showed an increase after treatment with all the mentioned softeners, while it was decreased for thiazole and trisazo dyed fabrics treated with anionic, cationic, micro and macro emulsion silicone softeners. The wash and light fastness properties of samples were measured according to ISO 105-CO5 and Daylight ISO 105-BO1. The washing fastness properties of some direct dyed samples were decreased after treatment with softeners. In the case of light fastness properties, it was decreased for most of the samples. The isoelectric point imposed on TiO2 by the metal oxide surface treatment determines the amount of organic dispersant adsorbed. The size of the a-olefin on the maleic acid dispersant is also important in the adsorption of the dispersant. The size of the a-olefin on the organic acid dispersant, in turn, determines the amount of surfactant and HEUR thickener adsorbed. The surfactant, unlike the HEUR thickener, exhibits a dependence on the metal oxide treatment in neutral media, independent in several aspects of the amount of organic dispersant adsorbed. The adsorption dependence of HEUR thickeners and nonionic surfactant on the hydrophobe size of the HEUR is discussed.
