An evaluation of the effect of light stabilisers on the exterior durability of polyester powder coatings for the architectural market / U. Parducci in SURFACE COATINGS INTERNATIONAL, Vol. 82, N° 3 (03/1999)

Titre : An evaluation of the effect of light stabilisers on the exterior durability of polyester powder coatings for the architectural market Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : U. Parducci, Auteur ; E. Nascovilli, Auteur ; B. W. Johnson, Auteur ; B. W. Barry, Auteur Année de publication : 1999 Article en page(s) : p. 134-141 Note générale : Bibliogr.

One can make good quality paint with little efforts. However, to enter into the quality circle or quality leadership, one needs to know the best use of proper additives. Both quality and quantity of additive will effect the final performance of paint. However, for doing so, one has to consider the chemistry of raw materials used in the paint industry. Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : Peinture Adhérence Adjuvant Support Flexibilité Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Organic coatings/paints provide not only corrosion protection but also aesthetic appearance to substrates. The organic coatings to efficiently fulfill the dual functions should possess good film is evident, since the failure of the bond between the coating and the substrate nullifies all other properties combined with adequate adhesion to the substrate. The importance of adhesion is evident since the failure of the bond between the coating and the substrate nullifies all other excellent properties that the coating may have. Generally to improve the adhesion of coatings/paints the appropriate amounts of coupling agents (known as adhesion promoters) are incorporated/added in the coating formulations. In the earlier reviews the findings of adhesion promoters as well as promoters other than silanes have been discussed. The present review discloses the findings on the adhesion promoters used for paints/coatings with a special eference to flexible substrates. The general observations on the performance of these promoters are described in a tabular form at the end of the text. This information may serve as guidelines in the selection of adhesion promoters for specific paint/coating' systems. Note de contenu : - Adhesion promoters for different types of paints/coatings

The emulsion paint as a class have increased their market share very significantly in almost every country. Water-based paints are non-inflammable, odourless and non-toxic, thus preferred to solvent based system due to increasing restrictions on air pollution. Today several countries in the world have attempted and successfully introduced, water based coatings.
