The structure of the QPS-bearing WPU has been identified, and their thermal stability, mechanical property, and antimicrobial performance have been investigated. The results reveal that the incorporation of QPS slightly reduces the thermal stability of WPU material but would not affects its usability as leather coating. Despite the presence of hydrophobic benzene in QPS structure, the strong hydration of its cationic groups leads to the increased surface contact angle (SCA) and water absorption rate (WAR) of the films, suggesting that the water resistance of the films needs to be improved for the purpose of leather coatings. Antibacterial tests demonstrate that when the QPS content is 20 wt%, QPS-bearing WPU shows effective antimicrobial activity against bacteria. The WPU containing QPS prepared in this study is a non-leaching antimicrobial material and has great potential application as leather coating. Note de contenu : - Materials

Tannage Résumé : Triphenodioxazine (TPDO) is a high-performance chromophore. Based on TPDO, five simultaneous or combined tanning-dyeing processes were undertaken with pickled sheep pelt. Process 1 utilized a simultaneous tanning-dyeing material named TPDO-GT, a reactive dyestuff with aldehyde reactive groups which was prepared by grafting TPDO to the backbone of a glutaraldehyde-like compound (GT). The other four processes were combinations of TPDO with gallic acid (GA) and Al (III), Fe (III) salts, through treating the pelt using a different adding order. The adding order of Process 2 was to treat the pelt with Al (III) salt first and then the mixture of (TPDO+GA); that of Process 3 was to add the mixture of (TPDO+GA) first and then the Al (III) salt; that of Process 4 was to add Fe (III) salt first and then the mixture of (TPDO+GA); that of Process 5 was to add the mixture of (TPDO+GA) first and then Fe (III) salt. Tanning-dyeing effects of the five processes were compared, and the results were as follows: For hydrothermal stability (Td from DSC analysis), 2 > 3 > 4 > 1 > 5; for colors, 1 was purple-red, 2 was dark purple, 3 was red brown, 4 was dark green, 5 was brown back; for washing fastness, 1 > 2 > 3 ≈ 4 > 5.
(Wikipedia)

The addition of Hg(ii) induced a blue shift of the fluorescence emission band of the probe while the fluorescence was almost quenched by the addition of p‐toluenethiol or cysteine (Cys). The detection limit of the probe towards Hg(ii) and Cys was 8 µmol/L. The probe could be used for the detection of Hg(ii) and thiols by the naked eye under ultraviolet light irradiation. The sensor ADM can detect F− by colour and fluorescence changes. The colour change is from colourless to yellow, and the fluorescence change is a yellow turn-on. With the results of Job plot and electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry, the reaction of F− and ADM turned out to be a 1:1 binding. The detection limits for F− of ADM were 5.00 μM in ultraviolet–visible and 4.16 μM in fluorescence. The detecting process of F− by ADM was demonstrated by ultraviolet–visible and fluorescent titrations, electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry, proton nuclear magnetic resonance titration and theoretical calculations.
