Titre : Waterborne meets solventborne : New self-crosslinking, optional dual-cure acrylic dispersions for furniture or parquet coatings Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Alain Garzon, Auteur Année de publication : 2003 Article en page(s) : p. 56-64 Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Acrylic dispersions with very small particles and specially designed particle morphologies can be used to formulate waterborne wood coating which do not appear milky and meet the mechanical and chemical resistances of conventional solventborne systems. When modified with an additive, these systems exhibit a dual-cure mechanism and feature charactristics that reach or outperform those of common D.I.Y. parquet coating. Note de contenu : Design of the dispersion polymer / Small particles avoid milky appearance of the wet paint / Particle morphology design for optimal balance of properties / Additive allows for optional dual-crosslinking mechanism / High performance at low coalescent/solvent level / Performance meets solventborne D.I.Y. parquet coatings / Appearance / black heel mark resistance / Abrasion resistance / Stain resistance En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/12rMB8nD7gN9k4uO_DfvpUiPNlwIwI4za/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=9490

Several approaches have been investigated in the past to overcome these drawbacks, but many of them where not totally successful. News generations of raw materials for manually applied parquet coatings (waterborne one- and two-component) and industrial application (UV-curing parquet coatings) were developed. Each represents remarkable progress in its particular field of application. These new systems are discussed with respect to their properties and polymer structure. Note de contenu : - WHAT IS PARQUET

While cured films could be obtained if the copolymers were used to make films soon after they were synthesized, a decline in film performance was noted which covelated with age of the copolymer solution/ dispersion. Accordingly, we set out to synthesize a replacement for the acetoacetoxyethyl methacrylate. We decided on an amide type monomer which was synthesized in three steps from 3-isopropenyl-a,a-dimethylbenzyl isocyanate, with an overall yield of 65-70%. The new monomer did not homopolymerize but was found to copolymerize readily with styrene or n-butylacrylate. Films from polymers containing the new monomers had equal or better properties than films obtained from polymers containing acetoacetoxyethyl methacrylate. Analysis showed that the new monomer did not hydrolyze over a period of one year at ambient temperature. Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=5677

Rabasco, Auteur Année de publication : 2006 Article en page(s) : p. 38-52 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Américain (ame) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Waterborne polymer emulsions composed of vinyl acetate-ethylene (VAE), ethylene-vinyl chloride (EVCl), and other vinyl acetate copolymers were evaluated as polymer systems in water repellent coatings for exterior wood applications. Data presented indicates that these polymer emulsions exhibit an excellent balance of performance properties, making them the polymer of choice in water repellent coating formulations requiring low volatile organic compound (VOC) content. The data further suggest that polymer morphology and other emulsion polymerization process parameters (e.g., surfactant package, functional comonomers, initiation system, and particle size) may play a role in achieving industry accepted performance.
Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Waterborne polysiloxane–urethane–ureas (WBPSUU) were prepared through a prepolymer process using siloxane polyol, namely polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and polyether polyol, namely poly(tetramethyleneoxide glycol) (PTMG) as the soft segments. The goal of this study was to explore the potential use of polysiloxane–urethane–urea in marine coatings in order to boost the flexibility, adhesion, erosion, and foul-release property with respect to PDMS/PTMG ratio (PDMS wt%). The structural elucidation of the synthesized waterborne polyurethane and WBPSUU was carried out by FTIR, 1H NMR, and 29Si NMR spectroscopic techniques. The XPS and AFM analyses indicate that the polymer surface can be silicone enriched with the optimum PDMS content (15.76 wt%). The antifouling property of the coatings was investigated by the immersion test under a marine environment for 90 days. The fouled area was calculated for all the samples and the fouled area (%) decreased with increasing PDMS content. After 90 days the lowest fouled area (5%) was observed in the sample using WBPSUU4 (PDMS 15.76 wt%) among all of the samples.
