Polymères -- BiodégradationIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Biodegradable PCL/PLA/Ag-MMT nanoblends with a strong antibacterial activity and a silver ion release property were successfully prepared by melt blending process for active packaging use. The presence of silver exchanged montmorillonite and its interaction with PCL/PLA matrix was evidenced by ATR/FTIR. The morphology was investigated by both XRD and TEM analyses. It was suggested the formation of mainly exfoliated structures with a random dispersion of spherical silver nanoparticles within their composite matrices. The thermal and mechanical properties of these nanomaterials were thoroughly investigated and compared to those of the unfilled blends. The potential of the silver ion release from the PCL/PLA/Ag-MMT film was estimated after immersion in water for several periods of time. The results showed an increase of the amount of silver ions released with growing immersion time of PCL/PLA/Ag-MMT nanoblends. Due to the presence of silver nanoparticles in their matrices, PCL/PLA/Ag-MMT nanoblends showed a total bacteria growth inhibition. Textiles et tissus à usages techniquesIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The aim of this work was to develop new systems of micro/nanocomposites to confer new functions to materials used for seats of public vehicles and public spaces. Specifically, this study focuses on antibacterial effect for leather and technical textile substrates.
The first stage of the research consists of a selection of micro/micro/nanomaterials and active principles: selection and evaluation of micro/nanoparticles, antibacterial and antifungal substances. In the second stage, the process of encapsulation of active principles was studied. The research includes optimization of the encapsulation process by improving the size and stability of the capsules. In addition, the synthesis of a hybrid organic-inorganic polymer acting as a micro/micro/nanomaterial carrier was developed.
To understand the mechanisms of synthesis and action of micro/micro/nanomaterials, characterization techniques have been used: scanning electron microscopy SEM and optical microscopy, analysis and distribution of particle size (DLS, Zetasizer). Regarding the antibacterial and antifungal ability of micro/nanocomposites, we adapted standard ASTM 2180-07 "Test methods for determining the activity or incorporated antimicrobial agent (s) in polymeric or hydrophobic materials."
Different products have been developed and the results obtained allow us to conclude that the synthesized products showed inhibition to the growth of bacteria and fungi on the contact surface.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Reagents - Characterization of the products obtained

TitaneIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Titanium implant success is compromised by microbial biofilms and aseptic loosening. This research aimed to develop robust multifunctional class II organic-inorganic hybrid coatings for implants with osteoconductive and antibacterial properties. 3-Glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane was coupled with organic polymer poly(ethylene) glycol-diamine (PEG-NH2) for integration into an inorganic sol backbone composed of tetraethoxysilane and calcium, which was sourced from newly synthesized calcium-2-ethoxyethoxide. Nuclear magnetic resonance and attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy confirmed synthesis of precursors and the structure of coating constituents. Scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) demonstrated homogenous coatings, micro-topographical surface features, and apatite-like ex vivo mineralization in simulated body fluid. Tensile adhesion testing demonstrated robust and highly adherent (15.1 ± 3.3 MPa) coatings on titanium substrates. Hybrid coatings imbedded with silver nanoparticles (nAg) significantly inhibited (P < 0.05) Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli planktonic cultures and biofilm formation. These Si-Ca-PEG-nAg hybrid coatings for titanium implants offer robust multifunctional features.

Terpolymère acrylonitrile butadiène styrèneIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Nickel coating was directly electroplated on acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) plastic substrate using a new method. The substrate surface was first coated by thin polyaniline film, then silver particles were deposited on the surface in order to improve the electrical conductivity. Three different acids (perchloric, nitric, and sulfuric acid) were used to synthesize the primary polyaniline film. The method adopted in the present study was not based on incorporation of silver particles within the polyaniline matrix; rather, the silver was deposited on the substrate surface. The electrical conductivity of the samples was increased to a level high enough for direct electroplating of nickel. The sample synthesized using nitric acid showed the finest grain size (1.57 µm) and greatest thickness of the final nickel coating (57 µm). The sample synthesized using sulfuric acid exhibited the lowest electrical resistance (0.008 Ω). In addition, the nickel coating deposited on the surface of the sample synthesized using perchloric acid exhibited the strongest adhesion to the substrate (5B according to ASTM standard). Surfaces (technologie)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A pulsed jet nanoelectrospray technique was applied to direct fabrication of silver micropatterns. The deposition of a commercial organic silver nano-ink was performed in a fully voltage-controlled fashion by voltage pulses ranging from 550 to 800 V with variable durations. By using 15 μm nozzles, patterns with 100-μm-sized features were locally freeformed on a silicon substrate with a spraying distance of 250 μm. An energy-dispersive X-ray spectrum confirmed metallic silver was developed in all the patterns after heat treatment at 220°C. The size and microstructural evolution of silver films was observed to strongly depend on the deposition volume and material flow over substrate surface. A good linear relationship between the deposition volume and pulse duration was exhibited over the applied voltage range in the cone-jet mode, demonstrating a drop-on-demand capability. By fitting, the deposition volume rate was estimated to be in the range of 0.38–0.59 pL/ms and was shown to increase with the applied voltage.
