Réduction (chimie)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In this article, we present the synthesis of small silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) with an average size of 1–20(50) nm. Three formulations of AgNPs-based materials have been obtained and characterized by varying the weight ratio of the silver nitrate/acrylic polymer. AgNPs were prepared by simple chemical reduction method. The reduction of AgNO3 was done by sodium borohydride in the presence of acrylic polymer, which acts also as a capping agent of AgNPs, avoiding the use of additional protective agents. The elemental analysis of AgNPs was quantified by X-ray fluorescence. The morphology and size of AgNPs were characterized by SEM and TEM–HRTEM, while the colloidal stability of AgNPs was demonstrated by zeta potential measurements. The influence of acrylic polymer on the stability of AgNPs, the particle sizes, and their antimicrobial efficacy was investigated. The results confirm that the introduction of acrylic polymer during the synthesis, acting as a stabilizing agent, increases the colloidal stability and antimicrobial performances of these formulations. Spectroscopie de photoélectronsIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The purpose of our work was to create leathers with enhanced antifungal and antimicrobial properties by treating with efficient and ecological agents. Using a simple and productive electrochemical method, stable and high purity nano-Ag based colloidal solutions containing 35 ppm Ag, with 4 nm diameter and – 44 mV zeta potential and Ag/TiO2 dispersed solutions containing 10g/l TiO2 and 45 ppm Ag, with 19.7 nm diameter and – 36.8 mV zeta potential, were obtained. Solutions obtained in this manner have affinity for wet blue or metal-free leather. Even though both colloidal silver solutions and Ag/TiO2 disperse solutions have a very good antifungal and antibacterial activity, only leather treated with Ag/TiO2, especially wet blue type, exhibits a strong antifungal activity up to 28 days of fungi exposure. Also, wet blue and metal-free leathers treated with colloidal silver solutions and Ag/TiO2 dispersed solutions present inhibitory action against Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 9027) and Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 6538). XPS measurements, relating to composition and chemical state of the Ag on the leather surface, have shown that leather treated with Ag/TiO2 nano-dispersed systems has a greater content of silver Ag0 than in the case of colloidal silver solutions treatment, Ag being better deposited in the matrix of TiO2 nano-powder, and released gradually as silver ions Ag+. The new products give the perspective of a new range of ecologic products, with applications both in the area of leather articles for medical and everyday use, and in the area of materials for additional treatment of wet blue palletized leathers, etc. Note de contenu : METHODS : Synthesis of CSS and Ag/Tio2 nano-dispersed systems - Analyses of CSS and Ag/TiO2 nano-dispersed systems - Treatment of leathers with CS and Ag/TiO2 nano-dispersed systems - Analyses and leathers treated with CSS and Ag/TiO2 nano-dispersed.

Sol-gel, ProcédéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In this study, a superhydrophobic titanium dioxide (TiO2)-poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS)-silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) coating was fabricated on fabrics via a simple dipping method with the versatile properties. Due to the combination of rough structure constructed by Ag NPs and the low-surface-energy of PDMS, the coated fabric exhibited superhydrophobicity. X-ray diffraction analysis verified the crystalline structure of rutile TiO2 and Ag NPs, which is suitable for the photocatalytic studies. According to the field emission scanning electron microscopy studies, surface roughness increased by improving the surface hydrophobicity upon Ag NPs deposition. The water contact angle (WCA) values were sequentially increased by incorporating TiO2, PDMS and Ag NPs into the coating composite, and the WCA value was estimated as 153° with a sliding angle of 15° for the superhydrophobic coating. Ag NPs demonstrated antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The photocatalyst activity of TiO2 was reinforced by the formation of the Schottky barrier at the Ag NPs-TiO2 interface after the Ag NPs deposition, and TiO2 led to the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue in solution. Furthermore, the modified textile was used to selectively separate oil–water mixtures. Thus, the coated fabric has great potential for applications in dye removal, oil separation, antibacterial and superhydrophobic coatings. Also, the coating material can be applied to other surfaces for the construction of superhydrophobic multifunctional surfaces in a low-cost way.

Gold has fascinated people down through the centuries because of its unique appearance. The yellowish metal possesses high gloss, extreme light-dark flop and high hiding power, even when present in very thin layers.
With the help alloys of copper and silver, different colour impressions can be achieved. Furthermore, gold is stable to environmental influences and is non-toxic. Extraction of the yellow metal is complex and expensive, which is why the alchemists of yore tried to make it from readily available materials. But even the renowned alchemist Albertus Magnus had to concede that he himself never actually succeeded in producing gold artificially, saying : "In truth, these are only superficial, apparent transmutations, in which only the appearance of the metals is changed, but never their inner essence".Note de contenu : - Gold leaf

Transparence (optique)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Silver nanowires are a promising nanomaterial for the fabrication of transparent flexible conductive films. Due to their fascinating properties, numerous studies have been done to determine the relationship among nanowire properties, micro-network structure, and opto-electronic properties, such as transparency and conductivity.1,2 However, most previous studies have used methods that are not suitable for mass production, such as vacuum filtration. To produce the film economically, it is advisable to use a solution process, e.g., a liquid coating method. In this study, we use a simple dip coating method to produce the film using a coating solution, which disperses nanowires in isopropyl alcohol. The amount of nanowires on the film is carefully controlled by the wet film thickness predicted from computational analysis. The important parameters of nanowire networks, such as the diameter, the aspect ratio, and the areal coverage of nanowires are measured directly from image analysis of the electron microscopy images. Finally, the relationship among those parameters and opto-electronic properties is examined in detail.
