Tension superficielleIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Surfactants as essential auxiliaries are used in almost all chemical processes in leather production. In this work, a series of nonionic short-chain fluorinated surfactants (Fn-Fn, where n = 2, 4, or 6) were successfully prepared and used as fatliquoring auxiliaries in the fatliquoring process of chrome-tanned goat skin. The chemical structure of these nonionic short-chain fluorinated surfactants was characterized by FTIR and the molecular weight was determined by GPC. The surface tension measurement results revealed that these three fluorinated surfactants showed excellent surface activities. The effect of type and dosage of Fn-Fn as well as fatliquoring temperature on fatliquoring properties of chrome-tanned goat skin were estimated by the softness and physical mechanical properties characteristic of resultant leather. The results revealed that the leather treated with 1 wt% F4-F4 at the fatliquoring temperature of 40oC showed the best overall performance, whose softness and physical mechanical properties were improved significantly. Moreover, the collagen fiber morphology and waterproof performance of leather treated with Fn-Fn were also investigated which showed that the addition of Fn-Fn in the fatliquoring process could promote the loosening of collagen fibers while effectively enhancing the water repellency of the leather surface. Therefore, such types of nonionic short-chain fluorinated surfactants are promising to be as desired fatliquoring auxiliaries in the leather industry.
Tannage Résumé : Chrome-tanned leathers have good comprehensive properties but, tannery effluents with high salinity, chromium and leather scraps containing chromium have a serious environmental impact. Non-chrome tannage is one of tannages that can reduce the pollution. Current non-chrome tanned leather can't, unfortunately meet the needs of the leather market regarding shrinkage temperature, softness, handle and other properties. In this study, a novel combination tannage was developed. The novel non-chrome tanning agent SL was directly employed to tan bated bovine hide producing wet-white. The shaved wet-white was further tanned by Tara, Sellatan RL and Lutan BN and was then fatliquored. It was found that the optimal consumption of the tannins — novel non-chrome tanning agent SL, Tara, Sellatan RL and Lutan BN was 5wt % for SL (based on 150% times of the weight of bated hide pelt) and 6wt% for each of the other three tannins (based on the weight of the shaved wet¬white). The shrinkage temperature of the finished leather can reach over 100°C and the leather has good softness, handle and mechanical properties. Compared with the traditional chrome tanning the conventional pickling process was eliminated, thus the process was shortened and the pollution by sodium chloride was reduced. The quality of the non-chrome leather approaches that of chrome-tanned leather. The non-chrome leathers of pilot production have been approved and accepted by the leather market.
Solidité de la couleurIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Textile pigment printing and dyeing is an environmentally friendly and sustainable clean production technology that has the advantages of saving water, saving energy and reducing pollution. However, the application of this technology in industry is severely limited because of the disadvantages of stiff hand feeling, poor wet rubbing fastness and other performance properties of traditional pigment-printed fabric. To improve the pigment printing performance, a novel method of preparing hybrid pigment latex containing silicone by one-step mini-emulsion copolymerisation of silicone and acrylic monomers was explored in this work. Here, a comprehensive study of the effect of the ratio of silicone and acrylic, and the silicone component of alkoxysilane and cyclic siloxanes, on the properties of hybrid latex films and pigment-printed polyester fibres, was conducted. It was found that, with an increasing amount of silicone, the hybrid pigment latex films gradually enhanced the water resistance, flexibility and thermal stability properties. Those water repellencies and smooth feeling properties were achieved by incorporating the hydrophobicity and the flexibility of the copolymer chains of silicone. The waterborne self-adhesive hybrid pigment containing silicone can be directly applied for pigment printing of polyester fabric. Compared with the control printing system (without silicone), it not only exhibited an equivalent colour strength, but also improved the colour fastness and hand feel. Based on these results, this approach may provide insights into the rational design of waterborne self-adhesive textile hybrid pigments for high-quality printing performance. PolyuréthanesIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : In order to improve the hydrophobicity and softness of leather, a fluoro-silicon-modified waterborne polyurethane (FSiWPU) leather finishing agent was prepared by emulsion polymerisation using 1H,1H,2H,2H-Nonafluoro-1-hexanol (F9) and N-(2-aminoethyl) -3-aminopropyl trimethoxy silane (KH-792) as modified monomers. The structure of the latex film and the film was characterised by FTIR, XRD and UV. The effects of F9 and KH-792 on the properties of the film was investigated. The water contact angle and application properties of the coated leather were tested. FTIR and XRD showed that F9 and KH-792 were successfully introduced into the main chain of waterborne polyurethane. The particle size of the modified composite emulsion was 106nm; the UV transmittance of the composite emulsion was significantly reduced compared to pure aqueous polyurethane. The water contact angle of the leather finished with the composite emulsion was 111° Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES : Materials - Preparation of fluorosilicone waterborne polyurethane emulsion - Finishing technology of leather - Fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR) analysis - XRD analysis of emulsion - Particle size analysis of emulsion - UV analysis of emulsion - Contact angle of finished leather to water - Testing of the finished leather applied properties

Spectrophotométrie UV-VisibleIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Denatured starch-gelatine complex (GS) and denatured starch (OS) were produced by oxidising acid hydrolysing starch with sodium hypochlorite. The results clearly showed that acid degradation and oxidative degradation significantly reduced both the molecular and particle size of native starch. The Maillard reaction occurred during the preparation of GS. The two kinds of denatured starch and several typical fillers were applied to chrome-tanned crust leather. The contrasting results of filling showed that GS had some obvious characteristics different from those of other fillers. The leather sample filled with denatured starch-gelatine complex GS showed obvious thickening, excellent tensile strength and tear strength, as well as moderate softness. The leather sample filled with OS exhibited moderate tensile strength and tear strength, as well as excellent elongation. GS and OS effectively separated fibre bundles and thus had favourable prospects for improving the sensory characteristics of chrome leather.
