Revêtements en phase aqueuse -- AdditifsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Large-scale addition of hydrophilic solid filler (i.e., ammonium polyphosphate) into waterborne intumescent fire-retardant coatings can cause many problems such as poor compatibility, easy absorption of moisture, and poor durability. In this work, microencapsulated ammonium polyphosphate with melamine formaldehyde resin (MFAPP) was prepared and applied in intumescent fire-retardant coatings to solve the problems mentioned. Due to the hydrophobicity of melamine formaldehyde (MF) resin, MFAPP exhibited better water resistance, thermal stability, and compatibility with polymer matrix, which was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectra, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), particle size test, water solubility, water contact angle, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The effect of the MFAPP on durability and fire resistance of the fire-retardant coatings test were investigated by the static immersion test, fire resistance test, TGA, and SEM. Even immersed in distilled water for 12 h, the coatings containing MFAPP did not show obvious damage, indicating microencapsulation improved the water resistance of coatings. Furthermore, the fire-resistant time and thermal stability of the waterborne intumescent fire-retardant coatings were also improved remarkably by utilizing the microencapsulation of ammonium polyphosphate. The as-prepared coating exhibited great fire resistance and smoke suppression. In the cone calorimetry test, adding only 6 wt% MFBZ dramatically reduced the peak heat release rate, total heat release, and total smoke release by ~ 23.4%, ~ 54.7%, and ~ 81.1%, respectively. In addition, the water resistance and thermal stability of the coatings were also characterized. The char yield of IFRC noticeably increased to 41.7%, indicating good high-temperature stability. Besides, the IFRC showed a water contact angle of 90.1° and maintained good structure and fire resistance after being soaked by water, indicating great water resistance. The enhanced performance portfolio was mainly due to the synergistic effects of ammonium polyphosphate, pentaerythritol, melamine, and zinc borate, and the hydrophobicity of melamine–formaldehyde resin (MF). This work offers an effective approach for the preparation of waterborne intumescent fire-retardant coatings with great fire resistance and water tolerance. SébumIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : - Objectives : Darkening has been an issue of concern for foundation products. The secretion of sebum plays a significant role in the process of foundation darkening, but the underlying mechanisms and solutions have been rarely reported. The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between sebum secretion and liquid foundation darkening and to provide possible solutions for reducing sebum-induced darkening in liquid foundation.
- Methods : Artificial sebum in different concentrations was added to a basic liquid foundation to simulate different stages of sebum secretion. The colour of the mixture was then measured by a spectrophotometer on the standard opacity chart. Potential technical solutions for anti-darkening were applied to a basic liquid foundation, and its ability to anti-darkening was further verified in vivo.
- Results : (1) The influences of sebum addition on liquid foundation darkening had a significant positive correlation with the increase in transmissivities (R2 = 0.852, p < 0.01). (2) A certain range of sebum addition can reduce the darkening of volatile foundations. (3) The liquid foundations using pigments with high dispersibility in sebum were less influenced by sebum. (4) The replacement of pigments with oil-fixing ability could effectively reduce the darkening of liquid foundations induced by sebum (p < 0.01).
- Conclusion : The effect of sebum on the darkening of liquid foundation was accompanied by a greater transmissivity as its pigment concentration decreased. Balanced volatility, the addition of powders with higher sebum dispersibility and the replacement of oil-fixing powders could reduce the darkening of the liquid foundation caused by sebum secretion.Note de contenu : - MATERIALS AND METHODS : Equipment and materials - Preparation of basic liquid foundation - Preparation of artificial sebum - In vitro study - Volatility test - Dispersion test - Oil-fixing ability test - In vivo test - Data analysis

The structure of the latex film and the film was characterised by FTIR, XRD and UV. The effects of F9 and KH-792 on the properties of the film was investigated. The water contact angle and application properties of the coated leather were tested. FTIR and XRD showed that F9 and KH-792 were successfully introduced into the main chain of waterborne polyurethane. The particle size of the modified composite emulsion was 106nm; the UV transmittance of the composite emulsion was significantly reduced compared to pure aqueous polyurethane. The water contact angle of the leather finished with the composite emulsion was 111° Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES : Materials - Preparation of fluorosilicone waterborne polyurethane emulsion - Finishing technology of leather - Fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR) analysis - XRD analysis of emulsion - Particle size analysis of emulsion - UV analysis of emulsion - Contact angle of finished leather to water - Testing of the finished leather applied properties

Stabilité thermiqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The rapid development and widespread application of magnesium alloy bring about a significant amount of magnesium alloy scrap. Thus, we offer a feasible and simple way to realize the recycling of magnesium scrap in this work, applying it as a synergist in the intumescent fire-retardant coatings for steel structure. With the introduction of magnesium scrap, the fire resistance, thermal stability, and water tolerance of the as-prepared coatings significantly improved. According to ASTM E119 standards, the fire resistance of coatings was investigated in our laboratory. Adding only ~ 0.48 wt% of the scrap decreased the backside temperature of the coated steel from 310°C to 171°C, with a ~ 44.8% reduction, indicating obvious synergy. Moreover, the coating containing ~ 0.48 wt% scrap exhibited excellent thermal stability and water resistance, and its char yield at 800°C and water contact angle reached up to 27% and 80.6°, respectively. Based on the analysis of flame-retardant mechanism, the scrap and intumescent fire-retardant system jointly promoted the formation of an intumescent and compact char residue, thus suppressing the heat transfer and protecting the steel. Hence, using magnesium alloy scrap as a synergist contributed to realizing the recycling of waste and providing practical intumescent fire-retardant coatings for structural steel.
