Rouge (couleur)Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : In the field of color cosmetics, color matching for expressive shades is becoming increasingly challenging. One reason is the limited selection of approved and formulation-stable color pigments. The options are particularly limited for stable blue and green tones. In addition, there are formulation and regulatory hurdles, especially for red color tones, that any new color formulation must overcome as calls for a vegan carmine alternative are getting louder.
There are several new effect pigments presented in this article, the use of which eliminates any formulation barriers for blue or green. Examples for expressive shades and attractive eyecatchers serve as the basis for new color developments. Additionally, a vegan, red pearlescent pigment that is universally applicable and can serve as an alternative, stable carmine base is introduced. Attractive color pigment mixtures are explained, suitable for all application forms (emulsions, pencils, powders, etc.).Note de contenu : - All color beginning

Peau -- Soins et hygièneIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Multifunctional cosmetics are best-sellers. They serve multiple roles and give the feeling of a cost-efficient product – a valuable benefit in uncertain times. “Hybrid Beauty” is a buzz word often used in the industry. In this case, hybrid has nothing to do with cars or engines. It means combining different technologies or ingredients to obtain a formula with several advantages. The best example might be BB creams or cleansing balms. A BB (Blemish Balm) offers coverage (like a foundation), combined with an SPF and skin care ingredients (like a daily moisturizer). It therefore incorporates three products in one. Other market examples are cleansing balms. Gone are the days with harsh sulphate-based cleansing gels that strip the last bit of sebum from the skin. Modern cleansing balms offer effortless make-up removal (as make-up is lipid-based), a fun transformation on the skin and leave a supple nourishing feel after rinsing.
As good as this may sound, it is difficult to develop market concepts offering multiple benefits – not only from a formulation point of view, but also considering the ingredients available on the market. Especially if the requirements are for naturality and sustainability. A good multifunctional ingredient enables the use in all kinds of concepts from emulsions or rinse-off formulas to anhydrous formulas. And, in best case, it also has different functions in all these products.Note de contenu : - Introducing a novel multifunctional SOFTISAN MagicPOWDER S

SurfactantsIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Having reached 508 billion euros by 2022, the hair care market has been undergoing profound change in recent years. Inspired by solutions that have proved their worth in the skin care market(the "skinification" trend), it is becoming more specialized, offering consumers products that are more caring and more sophisticated. As a result, volume growth in conditioners and treatments has rised by 17.3 % between 2017 and 2022, while growth in professional hair care products is set to increase by 22.5 %. Consumers are increasingly experts, and expect brands to follow market trends and deliver at home the same level of efficiency as in professional salons.

Tara et constituantsC'est un petit arbre épineux avec des gousses plates rouge qui pousse dans les zones sèches du Pérou, Amérique du Sud.Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Tara gum, a galactomannan derived from the seeds of the Caesalpinia Spinosa plant, is known for its high thickening capability, good solubility, and synergistic behavior with other hydrocolloids. While it has been widely used in the food industry as a stabilizer, thickener, and texturizer, its potential in the cosmetic industry is still being explored.
This article studies the use of tara gum in various cosmetic applications, more specifically hair care products such as conditioners, treatments and styling formulations.
The thickening ability and sensory contribution were assessed in hair conditioners. Tara gum’s styling performance was also evaluated by measuring the curl retention under high humidity conditions and hair stiffness. Additionally, a particle adhesion test simulated its effectiveness as a shield against pollution. Finally, associations with other synthetic or natural-derived polymers were explored.
The results showed tara gum’s effectiveness in various hair care formulations. It enhanced viscosity and stability in conditioners, improved curl retention and resistance to high humidity in styling products, and reduced particle adhesion for pollution-resistant formulations. Synergies in combination with naturally derived and synthetic polymers were also demonstrated, with improved thickening or film-forming performance.
Overall, these findings highlight tara gum’s potential as a natural and sustainable ingredient for high-performance and environmentally friendly cosmetic products.Note de contenu : - MATERIALS AND METHODS : viscosity and yield value - Sensory analysis - High humidity spiral curl retention - Stiffness - Pollution simulation : particle adhesion

MicrobiologieIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : We have begun a series of publications on studies related to the optimization of the antimicrobial product protection effectiveness of multifunctional cosmetic ingredients. Previously, we reported studies on the impact of pH even within a narrow range most relevant to cosmetic products [1]. Powerful combinations with organic acids were also examined as part of our technology platform Symshield®, which explores the concept of barrier technology or hurdle technology in the interest of empowering multifunctionals. In this article, we report studies with two additional parameters, chelating agents and water activity. Note de contenu : - INTRODUCTION : Chelating agents - Water activity

For this purpose, samples must be taken from the water treatment system. Samples should be taken according to a defined sampling plan, based on the history of results in terms of number of samples and sampling frequency, at different points in the plant. Sampling points must allow adequate sampling. Sample quantities should be sufficient for the chosen method of analysis. Requirements for transport and storage of samples must be fulfilled. Samples must be analysed by specified appropriate methods, e.g. based on the methods of the Drinking Water Ordinance (German). The methods should be selected in such a way that it is possible to determine the number of bacteria (quantitative) and also to identify the species of microorganisms found (qualitative) and to evaluate the results with regard to the quality requirements.
