Clean Sky will be built upon 6 "platforms" or Integrated Technology Demonstrators (ITD). These will perform preliminary studies and down-selection work, followed by large-scale ground or in-flight demonstrations in order to bring innovative technologies to a maturity level where they can be applied to new-generation "green" aircraft. One of these platforms is the Eco-Design ITD, focused on designing equipped airframes for a reduction in inputs, outputs and nuisances. Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : 'Emission polluant' Odeur 'Usine fabrication' Bidon Laquage 'Composé volatil' 'Pollution air' organique' Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Most industrialised nations have now enacted environmental protection regulations primarily aimed at reducing the volatile organic compounds ( VOC ) emitted to atmosphere. Whilst there may be little obvious immediate benefit of their implementation to those living in the neighbourhood of VOC emitting factories, what does make an immediate impact is odour emission and particulary any changes in odour.
The UK Environmental Protection Act requires that the aim should be that all emissions are free from offensive odour outside the process boundary , as perceived by the local authority Inspector'.
This paper is concerned with the emissions to atmosphere, and in particular odour emissions, from the lacquering processes associated with two-piece beer and beverage can manufacture. Despite steady progress in VOC reduction from such processes by the adoption of water-borne lacquer systems, odour nuisance complaints do occur from time to time.
In this paper we estimate the magnitude of the VOC and odour problem using know parameters of the lacquering process and then compare this with experimentally determined odour measurements of actual lacquers.Note de contenu : - THE LACQUERING PROCESSES : Coater application - Basecoat stoving - Printer application - Rim varnish and / or overprint varnish application - Printer bake - Interior spray application - Interior bake

For a better understanding of the emission characteristics, the release of volatile organic compounds from some specially manufactured furniture was studied in 1 m3 climate chambers. Special attention was given to the detection of photoinitiator fragments, which can significantly contribute to the pollution of indoor air. It was shown that the fragmentation products contributed 20-60% to the total emission, which was typically found in a range of 100 μ/m3 to 250 μg/m3 within the testing period of about 600 hr. One main compound was the strongly odorous benzaldehyde that is generated by many applied photoinitiators via α-cleavage. It was also observed that the curing time has a strong effect on the emission potential. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Sample preparation - Chamber tests - Sampling and analysis
