Revêtements en phase aqueuse -- Séchage:Peinture en phase aqueuse -- SéchageIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : To design high-performance industrial coatings, formulators must choose from a myriad of polymer chemistries. Proper selection of the polymer will determine the coating's physical and chemical properties as well as its protective capabilities. During the selection of these polymers, each systems advantages and shortcomings must be considered. For example, SB alkyd resins are often chosen in industrial coating applications because of their excellent gloss, good adhesion and wetting properties as well as excellent compatibility with other resin types. However, in many regions including North America, Western Europe and Japan, the consumption of SB alkyds has diminished as stringent environmental regulations have driven the industry towards lower VOC system. Revêtements en phase aqueuse:Peinture en phase aqueuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Wood is a renewable material that has been recognized for a long time as a valuable material for construction and engineering. Sound, solid wood can last for centuries. Nevertheless, wood is susceptible to biological and physical degradation. Therefore it needs to be protected properly, all the more when using less durable species. A variety of finishes can be applied. These coatings must meet certain minimum requirements, among which are sufficient penetration, resistance to physical and biological discoloration, and good adhesion. The last is considered the utmost important factor for the overall performance of a coating. Without an adequate anchoring to the wood, the coating will peel off prematurely and, thus, affect the lifetime of the substrate. In this article, the impact of the type of coating used, the wood species, and preweathering of the wood on adhesion are disclosed. In addition, the effect of weathering on the wood-coating system as a whole is looked at as well. The adhesion measurements were obtained with a mechanical torque device developed at VTT in Finland. Revêtements en phase aqueuse:Peinture en phase aqueuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Using a modified torque technique, statistically significant differences in adhesion values were detected for waterborne model paints on wood as a function of moisture content, waterborne preservative, and after fungal inoculation. Change in a paint constituent sometimes resulted in a significant change in the adhesion value. The adhesion values of the alkyd emulsion paints tested decreased after inoculation with a blue stain fungus. On the contrary, the adhesion values of the acrylic dispersion paints tested became significantly higher after inoculation. Note de contenu : - Painted wood samples

There has been a desire to reduce the impact on the environment and solvents have been perceived as a contributor not only to global warming but to low level ozone creation, which leads to smog.
