StratifiésIndex. décimale : 620.1 Mécanique de l'ingénieur (mécanique appliquée) et matériaux Résumé : Struts are widely used in aircraft, mainly with the purpose of supporting components and transferring loads between structural components. Due to the severe structural requirements of these parts, most aircraft use metallic solutions. Although some composite struts have been developed, metallic bars are, to date, the choice for these applications. Against this background, Aernnova, Henkel and Sigmatex decided to join forces to develop a new composite solution. Note de contenu : - Higher mechanical strength

ThermodynamiqueIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : One of the major challenges in aerospace composite design is the accurate prediction of working stress and strain knock-down in hygrothermal conditions. It is a complex analysis field, where the composite material's mechanical response is directly related to changes is the polymer matrix equation of state, and commonly used micromechanics. This complex relation requires rigorous modelling and extensive calculations. Composite Agency has developed a new simulation app for this purpose: CheFEM. The chemical-physical basis of the tool and its use are described briefly in this article. Note de contenu : - User tweaking

This composite structure is a multi-layer material, sandwiching carbon foam between layers of carbon fiber. It has many advantages over other, more conventional materials such as Invar, bismaleimide (BMI) laminate, ant the "VARTM process", for use in fabricating large composite tools. It is light-weight, and has high rigidity. It meets the requirements for thermal and structural stability, and has shown exceptional re-workability. These and other key properties will be discusses later in this paper. Note de contenu : - Material requirements
