This work describes the foam height related experimental results carried out according to the Ross Miles test where either the anionic concentration and water hardness have been varied alternatively. The experimental results obtained indicate that [Anionic]/[Ca2+] ratio strongly influences foam height and that phi-MES C16 is superior to LAS and SAS. This composite structure is a multi-layer material, sandwiching carbon foam between layers of carbon fiber. It has many advantages over other, more conventional materials such as Invar, bismaleimide (BMI) laminate, ant the "VARTM process", for use in fabricating large composite tools. It is light-weight, and has high rigidity. It meets the requirements for thermal and structural stability, and has shown exceptional re-workability. These and other key properties will be discusses later in this paper. Note de contenu : - Material requirements
