Pyrolyse

Réduction (chimie)Index. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : Complete inhibition of Cr6+ formation from chrome-tanned leather can be achieved by treatment with a three-component inhibitor containing 1.0mmol 3(2)-t-butyl-4-hydroxyanisole, 0.01mmol ascorbic acid, and 0.001mmol collagen peptide. In the present paper, chrome-tanned leather was heat-aged at 80°C for 24 hours and then stored at relative humidity of 33%, 65% or 97% for 12 months to investigate spontaneous conversion of Cr6+ to Cr3+ and to clarify availability of these inhibitors over long-term storage. The amount of Cr6+ decreased as the storage period increased, and was undetectable after 8 months. However, a second reheat-ageing resulted in reformation of Cr6+. This conversion to Cr3+ increased with the water content of the leather. Chrome-tanned leather treated with the three-component inhibitor maintained perfect inhibition of Cr6+ formation for 12 months, even if heat-aged again. However, for many tanners and leather dealers, the necessary cost to have a laboratory capable to carry out the analyses according to an ISO method is not affordable.
An easy test has been developed to carry out a screening of a leather sample in order to check out its compliance with the Cr(VI) restriction. This test is able to distinguish leathers that contain chromium(VI) or show signs of tendency to develop it, from leathers that even after thermal ageing exposure remain free of it.
The test is based on the scientist principle of the ISO 17075-1 method. Some operations of this Standard have been adapted with the aim of saving costs and simplifying and shortening the workload of the test. The essential criterion of this adaptation has been that the developed test does not lead to false negatives.
The only required devices are a laboratory oven, a balance of 0.01g of resolution, and a shaker. Neither a spectrophotometer nor a colorimeter is necessary.
The method has four main steps. The first one is an ageing process at 80°C during 24 hours. After cooling down for 30 minutes, the sample is extracted for one hour, using an overhead rotatory shaker or a magnetic stirrer. The third step is the discoloration of the extract, to remove the dyes of the colored solution so as to eliminate interferences. Finally, the extract is assessed by visual colorimetry. The workload per sample is about 40 minutes.
So far, more than 300 samples of leather have been tested. The kit performed very well and only gave 5% of false positives. The kit did not commit any false negative.Note de contenu : - MATERIALS AND METHODS : Samples - Reagents and instruments for the LeatherKit_Cr6 method - Instruments for the ISO 17075-2 reference method - Operating procedure for LeatherKit_Cr6 method - Measurement

Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Plastic pyrolysis has been studied over the years and has been proven to be a viable method of converting waste materials into useful products. Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is of particular interest as it makes up a significant part of solid waste stream. Aspen HYSYS was used to model the steady-state pyrolysis of waste low-density polyethylene (LDPE) based on a combination of kinetic and thermodynamic approaches. The results of the numerical optimisation (at a basis of 10 kg/h feed) showed that 100% conversion and a maximum of 91.6% oil yield can be achieved at a temperature of 449 °C and a purge gas flowrate of 1.21 kg/h. Reaction temperature was found to be a more important process factor than purge gas flowrate. Correlations were also developed for the prediction of oil yield and reaction conversion based on the process temperature and purge gas flowrate. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that the correlations for both reaction conversion and oil yield were statistically significant. Silanes

Stabilité thermiqueIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Amino trimethylphosphonate cobalt (Co2+-ATMP) flame retardant was prepared by ion exchange method, and rigid polyurethane foam (RPUF) modified by Co2+-ATMP and expandable graphite (EG) was prepared by one-pot and free-rise method. The flame retardancy, thermal stability and smoke toxicity of modified RPUF were studied by limiting oxygen index (LOI), cone calorimeter (Cone), thermogravimetric analysis (TG) and smoke toxicity characterization. The results showed that the flame retardancy, thermal stability and smoke toxicity of RPUF modified by Co2+-ATMP and EG are significantly improved. When the ratio of Co2+-ATMP to EG is 1:5, the LOI value is the highest, and the toxicity of flue gas was the lowest. The peak heat release rate (PHRR) and total heat release rate (THR) were both the lowest, 138 kW/m2 and 15.9 MJ/m2, respectively. Compared with RPUF-0, it decreased by 39.2% and 16.8% respectively.
