Triacrylate de triméthylolpropaneIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Several 6-pyridinium benzo[a]phenazine-5-oxide derivatives have been synthesised and characterised by proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. The spectroscopic and electrochemical properties of these dyes were examined. The dyes were used as reducible sensitisers for selected electron donors (phenylthioacetic acid, phenoxyacetic acid, N-phenylglycine, and ethyl 4-N,N-dimethylaminobenzoate) and as oxidisable sensitisers for electron acceptors (onium and N-alkoxypyridinium salts). These photoredox pairs were found to be effective visible-wavelength photoinitiators for the free radical polymerisation of trimethylolpropane triacrylate under visible light. The cationic photopolymerisation of cyclohexene oxide by the studied dyes and the onium salt photoredox pairs was ineffective. The obtained results are discussed on the basis of both free energy change for electron transfer to or from the benzo[a]phenazine dyes and the photochemical properties of the dyes, particularly their photobleaching. The proposed mechanism of dye fading is supported by density functional theory calculations and spectroscopic characterisation of the radical cation of the dye. VernisIndex. décimale : 667.7 Cires, laques, vernis Résumé : This study aimed to determine the effect of accelerated weathering on gloss, surface hardness and colour changes of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.). Test samples were impregnated with Adolit KD-5, Wolmanit CX-8 and Celcure AC-500 covered with cellulosic and polyurethane varnishes. The results showed that the values of surface hardness and gloss increased after accelerated weathering. While the surface hardness of Scots pine was increased for impregnated and polyurethane-coated varnish, it decreased for impregnated and cellulosic varnish-coated Scots pine after 1000 hours of accelerated weathering exposure. Copper-based chemical impregnation and varnish coating developed the gloss of Scots pine specimens relative to the surface characteristics observed in single-coated Scots pine specimens. While the most appropriate chemical was Celcure AC-500 for surface hardness, it was Adolit KD-5 for the gloss of Scots pine after 1000 hours of accelerated weathering exposure. Wood specimens impregnated prior to the application of varnish were more effective in stabilising the colour of Scots pine than Scots pine only coated with varnish. Polyurethane varnish-treated Scots pine showed better colour stability for each partial and total accelerated weathering exposure period. The total colour changes were lowest for polyurethane varnish-coated Scots pine impregnated with Celcure AC-500 after 1000 hours of accelerated weathering exposure. However, interest continues to grow in binders that permit the formulation of solvent-free emulsion based paint systems. This requirement can be met by selecting polymer dispersions with an appropriate minimum film-forming temperature (MFFT). Therefore, the similarities and differences between pure (or straight) acrylic (Ak) and acrylic/styrene (Ak/S) dispersions with different MFFTs will be discussed In the following. These usually contain organic pigments which are susceptible to UV degradation, but it is shown that binder degradation is critical, as it can lead to more titanium dioxide becoming exposed at the surface. TitaneIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In this study amorphous fluorinated coatings applied to anodized titanium surface have been investigated. A copolymer between tetrafluoroethylene and perfluoro-4-trifluoromethoxy-1,3-dioxole (AD60) and two perfluoropolyether containing ammonium phosphate (F10) or triethoxysilane (S10) functionalities have been tested. To estimate the color alteration of the anodized titanium surfaces due to the application of the coatings, spectrophotometric analyses have been made. Water and n-dodecane contact angles as well as apparent surface energy have been evaluated. Ellipsometry and atomic force microscopy data have been used to measure the thickness of the fluorinated coatings. A tailored mechanical preliminary test has also been explored to evaluate the adhesion of the coatings on the anodized titanium surface. The resistance to surface soiling with castor oil was also preliminarily investigated. The fluorinated coating tested on anodized titanium showed a low apparent surface energy and high chromatic aspect conservation, this is particularly evident for the titanium anodized coated with triethoxysilane functionalities fluoropolymers S10.
