The preliminary in vitro toxicity assay studies infer the nontoxic nature of PYBP. Data obtained from thermal and surface studies indicate that the PYBP-based PBzs possess higher thermal stability than those of bisphenol-F benzoxazines. Observations from SEM images suggest that the inherent hydrophobic nature was due to the formation of rough surfaces. The corrosion studies of the specimens were carried out using open-circuit potential, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and potentiodynamic polarization. Among the mild steel specimens, coated with different benzoxazines, the poly(PYBP-oda)-coated specimen was found to be less aggressive toward corrosion showing 90% efficiency and charge transfer resistance (Rct) of 381 kΩ cm2. Thus, data obtained from different studies suggest that the PYBP-based benzoxazines can be used as a better coating material for steel and steel products against corrosion. In a project on the subject of fiber dusts, a study is being carried out on how toxic such fiber fragments are, and which shredding technology is most suitable for preventing – or at least reducing – the release of inhalable fibers. The maximum absorption wavelength of DYE-BD was calculated with the same basis set by using the Gaussian 09 software based on different methods, while time-dependent density functional theory was applied to simulate the maximum emission wavelength of the designed dye. The changes in enthalpy and Gibbs free energy were simulated at the b3lyp/6-31G(d) level, and energy changes in the luminescence process were assessed using mathematical methods. Furthermore, DYE-BD was used to colour acrylic fabric following the typical dyeing procedure for cationic dyes. The photostability of the synthesised dye was analysed using quantum theory and mathematical methods. The synthesised dye, analysed using the Ecological Structure Activity Relationships class program, had no toxicity to aquatic life, while the acrylic fabrics dyed with DYE-BD met the fluorescent orange requirements for background and combined performance materials according to the EN ISO 20471:2013 standard.

Stabilité thermiqueIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Amino trimethylphosphonate cobalt (Co2+-ATMP) flame retardant was prepared by ion exchange method, and rigid polyurethane foam (RPUF) modified by Co2+-ATMP and expandable graphite (EG) was prepared by one-pot and free-rise method. The flame retardancy, thermal stability and smoke toxicity of modified RPUF were studied by limiting oxygen index (LOI), cone calorimeter (Cone), thermogravimetric analysis (TG) and smoke toxicity characterization. The results showed that the flame retardancy, thermal stability and smoke toxicity of RPUF modified by Co2+-ATMP and EG are significantly improved. When the ratio of Co2+-ATMP to EG is 1:5, the LOI value is the highest, and the toxicity of flue gas was the lowest. The peak heat release rate (PHRR) and total heat release rate (THR) were both the lowest, 138 kW/m2 and 15.9 MJ/m2, respectively. Compared with RPUF-0, it decreased by 39.2% and 16.8% respectively. The research results can provide reference for the subsequent flame retardant modification of RPUF. Tests de toxicitéIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : In this study, five new heterocyclic disazo dyes containing pyrazole and pyrazolone were synthesised (3a-3e). The synthesised disazo dyes were characterised by elemental analysis and Fourier Transform–infrared and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The effects of two different solvents upon the absorption ability of the dyes substituted with electron-withdrawing and electron-donating groups were examined in detail. In addition, the acute toxicity of each synthesised azo dye was evaluated using a short-term bioassay with Gammarus roeseli (Crustacea: Amphipoda) for 48 hours. According to the evaluations, the dyes 3a, 3b and 3d were categorised as slightly toxic, and the dyes 3c and 3e as practically non-toxic. Considering the toxicity of the dye 3a, it was determined that the substitution of the electron-withdrawing group in the azo dye resulted in more toxicity, while the substitution of the electron-donating group resulted in less toxicity. It was also found that the presence of the strongly electron-withdrawing group resulted in the azo dye becoming more toxic in comparison with the presence of the weakly electron-withdrawing group, but that the presence of the strongly electron-donating group resulted in the azo dye becoming less toxic in comparison with the presence of the weakly electron-donating group. It is contended that this study is novel and of great importance in terms of synthesising new azo dyes, investigating their absorption properties and assessing their acute toxicities.
