Several studies on curing of the coatings by IR spectroscopy have been reported in the literature. However, the optimization of curing composition by IR spectroscopy for achieving desired coating performance is not discussed in detail. In the present paper, the optimization of curing composition of bisphenol-A liquid epoxy and an amine adduct by IR spectroscopy is reported along with the coating performance. Two different cardanol-based epoxy systems were studied by DSC. The system showing the highest Tg was chosen for the manufacture of a UD carbon fibre prepreg by the hot melt process. Preliminary rheological measurements were performed to find the correct process parameters. Finally, the properties of cardanol-based resins and composites were compared with those of systems based on traditional amines. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Materials
