Revêtements en phase aqueuse:Peinture en phase aqueuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Fluorinated resins are known for high performance, particularly in long term, exterior durability. Fluoroethylene vinyl ether or FEVE resins, a family of fluorinated resins, have a unique alternating copolymer structure allowing them to be dissolved in solvent, as well as emulsified in water for formulating liquid coatings. As environmental initiatives are becoming less compulsory and industry is taking proactive measures to protect the environment, waterborne and high solids paint is ever increasing in demand.
Studies encompass both 1K and 2K formulations and focus on dispersant type, coalescing agents and methods of altering gloss. Results of the many tests that measure critical properties of high performance coatings will be presented. Testing includes water resistance,
chemical resistance, vapeur permeability, solar reflectance properties and mould resistance along with corrosion resistance and accelerated weathering. Formulations based on blends of FEVE resins with other polyols, like acrylic polyols and polyester polyols will also be explored.Note de contenu : - FEVE resin technology

As expected, all FTR spectra obtained showed considerable differences to their published infrared spectra. It is shown that FTR spectroscopy is excellent for the qualitative analysis of dried acrylic latex paint films and has the added advantages that it is nondestructive and requires no prior sample preparation. Quantitative analysis of extender pigments in dried acrylic latex paint films has also been successful but good quantitative results for titanium dioxide were not obtained. The reason for this is not known. Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=18542

Performance requirements for coating systems specified for Dutch construction practice focus on water permeability and durability. Although these tests yield plenty of information, coating failures that occasionally occur in practice cannot always be explained. Note de contenu : - New sampling method and initial results

Two series of model emulsion polymers, iso-butyl methacrylate (i-BMA) and normal-butyl methacrylate (n-BMA) dispersions with varying level of trimethylolpropanetriacrylate (TMPTA) crosslinker, are studied. Coatings are characterized by positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS), and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Formation of coherent brittle films without significant interdiffusion is achieved by consolidation below the glass transition temperature (Tg). Consolidation, or ordering/compaction of films following water evaporation at temperatures below the MFFT, results in a decrease in the relative free volume element size, Tau 3, as measured by PALS. An increase in the characteristic relaxation time for the consolidation process is evident as TMPTA levels and corresponding gel fraction increase. Consolidation below Tg is accompanied by physical aging. Coalescence and interdiffusion are achieved by annealing films at or above Tg. Annealed coatings show a decrease in Tg and an increase in PALS free volume attributed to erasure of physical aging in combination with the action of the surfactant (sodium dodecyl sulfate) as a plasticizer. Revêtements en phase aqueuse:Peinture en phase aqueuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Waterborne polyurethane dispersions are increasingly used and offer a variety of special properties to surface coatings.
Waterborne polyurethane dispersions' inherent polymer chain, particle and film morphology allow development of coherent coatings with excellent mechanical properties, which are suited for various applications.
DSM announced recently that it has decided to build a new factory for polyurethane dispersions in Meppen in Germany, which will come on stream mid 2007.
This article will highlight the oppportunities available to purpose design polyurethane dispersions in terms of polymer backbone and fim forming characteristics suitable for high perfomance applications.Note de contenu : - Waterborne polymers in surface coatings
