The conventional methods used involves film formation by evaporation of solvent, chemical reaction or by coalescence.
In the present paper an effort is made to search for new chemistries. The reference for this paper are organic reactions which were not earlier used and these reactions were selected based on some guidelines. An effort is also made in terms of applying it to coating field.
This paper has tried to put forth new ideas which may or not be applicable in practice with hpes that a step has been taken in proper direction. The chemisties mentioned here are open for suggestions and modifications.Note de contenu : - Coventional curing chemistries

The results show that, relative to tin-plated steel, removal of tin-plating from a steel substrate increases isocyanate (NCO) consumption by 42% near the film-substrate (F-S) interface. When PUR is allowed to crosslink on steel, PP, TPO, and glass, the NCO concentration is greater at the film-air (F-A) interface. Furthermore, crosslinking reactions result in a greater amount of urea-hydrogen bonded species near the F-S interface for all substrates. While an increase ofsubstrate surface tension decreases the amount of urea-hydrogen bonded carbonyl groups near the F-S interface, TPO was found to exhibit different behavior due to talc stratification near the surface. In this case, the presence of talc in WB-PUR coatings or thermoplastic substrates decreases the amount of hydrogen-bonded species and increases NCO consumption. Many theories have been proposed to account for the origin of the deformation forces. The capillary forces which depend inversely on particle size have been accepted as important for latex deformation and film formation. The minimum film forming temperature (MFFT) has been found to be a function of the particle size of latexes and has been used as evidence that the capillary forces are responsible for film formation. In this study, the deforming force at MFFT has been determined from the moduli of water-equilibrated latex polymers. No particle size dependence was observed. The magnitude of the deforming forces was at least an order of magnitude lower than that predicted by the capillary force theory. Electron microscopy of film formed below the MFFT, a condition that corresponds to early stage film formation, showed significant deformation, indicating that at the beginning of film formation, forces of magnitude predicted by the capillary force theory are present. However, the magnitude of the forces decreases rapidly as film formation progresses. The MFFT particle size dependency can be explained by the difference in the degree of water plasticization. Evidence that latexes of different particle size were plasticized by water to different extents was determined from the Tgs of the latex emulsions. Surface tension measurements, were carried out to demonstrate the difference in adsorption equilibria of the anionic surfactant, sodium dodecyl sulphate on the different latex particles, with change in pH. the films were cast at different pHs, and it was found that the film of styrene based LIPN at a low pH (3.3), yielded translucent film while transparent films were also obtained from styrene based LIPN at a higher pH of 9, neutralized with NaOH. The higher strength of the latex films, obtained at the pH of 9 than those obtained at pH 3.3 of the styrene based LIPNs, indicates that the reduction in the polymer-water interfacial tension enhances the coalescence. It has been demonstrated clearly by the experimental evidence, that adsorption of surfactant on polymer, in styrene based latexes and the exudation of the surfactant in MMA based latexes, results in major difference in the optical clarity of the latex films. Because of the synthetic procedure employed in the preparation of aqueous polyurethanes, they differ significantly from typical emulsion polymers in terms of colloid stability characteristics and particle morphology. Fluorescence spectroscopy and small angle neutron scattering techniques demonstrated that the particles in a polyurethane dispersion are swollen with water. The consequences of this morphology in terms of the ability to combine low film forming temperature with good film hardness is discussed. The particle size distribution of aqueous polyurethanes was found to be broader than that of typical emulsion polymers. Results are presented which demonstrate how control over average particle size and colloid stability can be achieved in aqueous polyurethanes.
