The composites were prepared by twin screw extrusion and samples were prepared by injection molding. Mechanical properties increased with the incorporation of TWF, Starch and PE-g-MAH. Tensile strength and Young's modulus increased by 96% and 207%, respectively for TWF (40%)-HDPE composite as compared to virgin matrix. Scanning electron microscopy revealed good interface between TWF and matrix. FT-IR spectra confirmed the esterification reaction and H-bond between anhydride group of PE-g-MAH and cellulose of TWF. The DSC results showed that the melting temperature increased from 129°C to 137°C while crystallization (%) decreased from 40.49% for HDPE to 34.77% for 40% TWF composites, respectively. The storage modulus increased for all the composites at low temperature. Glass transition temperature practically remained unaffected by filler loading. Note de contenu : - MATERIALS

Vibrations (mécanique)Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Enhancing mechanical properties and suppressing vibration are important requisites in developing composite materials for dynamic structural applications such as automotive and aircraft. In this work, mechanical and vibrational properties of twill woven CFRP composites fabricated by compression molding, are studied by varying tow sizes (3k and 6k). Density, void, tensile, bending, impact strength, hardness, and free vibration tests were conducted as per ASTM standards to study their properties and investigate the impact of tow sizes on composites. In experimental modal analysis, Frequency Response Function (FRF) plots were also recorded. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) was used to analyse the fracture behavior of the composites. A comparison between the observed results of 3k and 6k twills are made and discussed in detail. From the experimental investigation, it is found that higher tow size decreases the tensile, flexural and hardness strength but increases the natural frequency and damping coefficient. Interfacial bonding between fiber and matrix was affected by the presence of voids in the composites as evident from SEM micrographs. Index. décimale : 677.4 Textiles artificiels Résumé : Polyurethanes are a class of elastic copolymers, which are known for their highelongation and very good elastic properties. Polyurethanes as polymer are available in variable hardness grades, which make them suitable for a long range of applications i.e. packaging, sealing, coating, textile applications etc. Elongation and elasticity are regarded as important properties of textiles as these properties play an important role in the wear comfort and shape retention of the textiles. According to a study, 80% of clothing contains elastic filaments in variable proportion. This makes the use of elastic filaments unavoidable in the apparel industry. This article gives an overview of polyurethane properties, filament production processes and recent advancements in the melt spinning process. Note de contenu : - Filament spinning of polyurethanes

The new generation bonded metallics do not show the application problems experienced in the past. The new generation of bonded metallics excel in colour consistency and charging. Years of relentless research into the bonding process and associated equipment have enabled us to produce metallic effects that until recently were only possible with wet paint systems. These advances will boost the growth of metallic effect powder coatings for many years to come. Note de contenu : - EFFECT PIGMENTS
