These dyes showed a molar extinction coefficient in the range of 20 000–30 000 l/mol/cm. These compounds were characterised by strong solid-state fluorescence under long ultraviolet light (365 nm). Absorption and fluorescence spectra revealed that electron coupling originating from broad π-electron delocalisation and the keto–enol form is responsible for the large Stokes shift. These dyes were readily soluble in common solvents such as dichloromethane, chloroform, dimethyl formamide, tetrahydrofuran and dimethyl sulphoxide and were characterised by means of elemental analysis, proton nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectrometry. Thermogravimetric analysis of solid-state fluorescent dyes show thermal stability up to 270 °C and can therefore be used for polymer application. The coloristic properties of these dyes were evaluated on polyester by the disperse dyeing method. Teinture -- Fibres textiles synthétiquesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : A series of new dyes based on the N-analogue of Pechmann hybrid dyes were prepared by the condensation of different 5-aryl derivatives of pyrrolinone ester (phenyl, 4-bromophenyl, thienyl, and biphenyl) with isatin. N-Alkylated derivatives were also prepared using bromoethyl acetate. Full 1H and 13C NMR assignment was performed. All prepared dyes were soluble in most organic solvents: N-alkylated derivatives had better solubility than non-alkylated derivatives. The UV-vis absorption spectra of the derivatives under study are quite similar and exhibit maxima in the 509–526 nm range. No E/Z photoisomerisation is observed. The dyeing process, dye exhaustion on polyester, and the fastness properties of the dyes were examined.

The aim was to reduce the NMA content and the formation of free formaldehyde from pigment printing pastes by employing newly synthesized core-/shell-type polymers. After five washing cycles, the synthesized core-/shell-type polymer including 1% NMA in the core and 1% NMA in the shell with T g values +30°C and −20°C, respectively, with lowest total NMA content (1.03%) yielded the best result and showed closest ΔE values to the commercially available polymer including 4% NMA. Dry and wet rubbing fastness results showed no significant changes in the absence of NMA when compared with NMA containing samples. The penetration degree of the pigment pastes of the corresponding polymers was relatively higher on 100% cotton fabric for both red- and blue-colored pigments. A negligible decrease in color strength has been observed for all polymers when colored in red. Teinture -- Fibres textiles synthétiquesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Three series of methine dyes were synthesised by the condensation of indol-2-ones with aryl acroleins. The structures of these dyes were confirmed by 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, infrared spectrometry and elemental analysis. The ultraviolet-visible absorption spectra of the dyes were examined in different solvents. The maximum absorption wavelength ranged from 386 to 495 nm. The dyes were applied to polyester fibres, and the colour gamut and dyeing properties were investigated. Results showed that the dye uptake (percentage exhaustion) was 86.9–92.0%, with the hue changing from yellow to red. The rubbing fastness, wash fastness, and sublimation fastness were between 4 and 5. Teinture -- Fibres textiles synthétiquesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Seven new azo dyes were prepared by linking various amino derivatives to barbituric acid through diazo coupling reactions. The structures of the azo dyes were identified by elemental analyses and by Fourier transform infrared, proton nuclear magnetic resonance, and mass spectral data. The barbituric acid dyes exist in five different tautomeric forms, with the Fourier transform infrared and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectra confirming the existence of these dyes in triketo tautomeric form in the solid state and in the diketo form in the liquid state. All the compounds were tested for their antibacterial, antifungal, anticancer, and antioxidant activity. The prepared dyestuffs were dyed on polyester fabrics, and subsequently their dyeing properties and their light, washing, perspiration, rubbing, and sublimation fastness were determined.
