Revêtements en phase aqueuse:Peinture en phase aqueuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Paints designed for application to wood trim (wood used to cover transitions between surface or for decoration) represent a significant share of the market for wood coatings. Over the past decade, as a result of environmental and other legislation, there has been a general shift from solvent-borne to water-borne in most architectural or decorative coatings applications. However, the very property that makes water-borne coating attractive from environmental, toxicological, and health points of view, i.e. that they contain water, is also the main cause of many of the problems which are associated with water-borne technology and which have hampered the replacement of traditional solvent-borne paints.
les polyoléfines thermoplastiques semi-cristallines : polyéthylène (PE), polypropylène (PP), polyméthylpentène (PMP), polybutène-1 (PB-1) ;

Dopamine deposited on the surface of alumina membranes through immersion over time, and then crosslinking reaction occurred with polyethyleneimine (PEI), which was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. It induced the modified layer coated on the membrane surface. Values of water contact angle of the modified alumina membranes were ~ 0° in air. Values of underwater oil contact angle reached 155°, which indicated it was superhydrophilic and underwater superoleophobic. More particles engendered with the increase in the reaction time with PEI, which induced the decrease in the pore sizes and permeation flux. All values of oil rejection were higher than 98.5%. No obvious deterioration of permeation flux could be found. The rejection hardly suffered a sharp decline over 800 min. It indicates that the modified layer can firmly stick to the alumina membranes. Therefore, the as-prepared alumina membrane is promising for practical oil/water separation. Revêtements en bâtiment:Peinture en bâtiment
Revêtements en phase aqueuse -- Additifs:Peinture en phase aqueuse -- AdditifsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In the coatings industry, the concept of sustainably is becoming increasingly important, whether to meet regulatory requirements or growing customer and consumer expectations. Sustainability is also a significant driver for coatings innovations.
The United Nations has adopted a list of 17 "Sustainable Development Goals" that seek to define a blueprint for sustainability on a global scale. Many of these relate to sustainability in coatings, such as reducing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and greenhouse gases and replacing fossil fuel-based products with biosourced materials.
With these UN Sustainable Development Goals in mind, a new coalescent technology for waterborne paints that meets the zero-VOC requirement as measured by ASTM D6886 and has a high biobased carbon content of 96% as measured by ASTM D6866 has been developed.
This goal of the study described in this article is to evaluate the performance of this product in several representative architectural and industrial waterborne paint formulations and benchmark performance against other VOC and zero-VOC coalescents available on the market.
Performance of this new coalescent was evaluated in a range of waterborne binder chemistries, including all acrylic, vinyl acrylic, styrene acrylic hybrid, and self-crosslinking acrylic systems in several architectural and industrial maintenance paint formulations.
This new coalescent technology was found to compare favorably with commercial zero-VOC coalescents in architectural coatings formulations. In industrial coatings formulations, substitution of VOC solvents, in whole or in part, with this new technology allows for significant lowering of overall formulation VOC while maintaining good coating performance. Improved metal adhesion and impact properties were observed with retention of high gloss and good corrosion resistance.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL DETAILS : Test methods

The corn husk fiber was extracted from the outer sheath of the corn by mild alkali treatment. Tensile, flexural and impact tests were conducted to investigate the mechanical behavior of corn husk fiber-PP composite. The analysis showed the improved tensile, flexural and impact characteristics of polypropylene in presence of corn husk fiber. Since corn husk exists in abundance, the feasibility of using this fiber in conjunction with polypropylene to develop composite materials for automobile application is very promising. The research shows the great potential of using corn husk fiber to reinforce into polypropylene. The thermal properties are also investigated in this paper.
Currently, polymeric based composite materials are being used for many life applications such as automotive, sporting goods, marine, electrical, industrial, construction, household appliances etc., because of their unique properties with high strength and stiffness, light weight, economical and corrosion resistance. In the past decade, the research work on polymer based composite materials has been devoted as the use of these materials has been increased tremendously in many applications. Recently, natural fibers (flax, jute, cotton, coir etc.) have been used as a reinforce material into polymeric based matrix for enhancing the mechanical properties of the basic polymer. Using hybrid nonwovens as semi-finished products, made from a blend of natural and thermoplastic fibers, provide a good basis for high product quality.Note de contenu : - Tensile properties of corn husk-PP composite
