Smooth discs in horizontal mills have been replaced by progressively improved designs. A new mill design uses advanced discs with a ceramic liner that gives very efficient cooling. In one test series, overall production rate could be quadrupled. Note de contenu : - Evolution of a new grinding system

PigmentsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Agitated bead milling usually is the core process step for developing the target quality characteristics of high grade pigment dispersions of the coatings and the printing ink industry. This process is time and energy consuming and the customers become ever more demanding. With standard milling approaches, the profit is diminishing and choosing cheaper raw material, due to cost pressure is causing trouble in the grinding process, such as clogging screens, out of range particle size distribution and longer grinding cycles. Saving on capital goods and pigments, therefore, leads to the opposite effect - increased costs and quality issues. Note de contenu : - Processing low viscosity products such as inks and coatings
- Fundamental consideration when using smaller grinding beads
- How can this principle create lower production cost ?

In a project on the subject of fiber dusts, a study is being carried out on how toxic such fiber fragments are, and which shredding technology is most suitable for preventing – or at least reducing – the release of inhalable fibers. Temps de cycle (production) -- RéductionIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Ways to minimise the total costs of a pigment dispersion plant are discussed in relation to both overall planning and mill design. Automated production lines can reduce labour costs while improving product consistency. Efficient milling today requires the use of very fine beads. A new mill handles these efficiently, reducing both production times and energy input. Note de contenu : - Efficient production systems reduce labour costs
- The four key steps in planning a new plant
- Grinding bead parameters and their significance
- New mill design improves handling of smallest beads
- Scalability helps ensure consistent production
- Significance of the specific energy concept
- Production and facility costs can both be reduced
