Technique de la productionIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The design of horizontal bead mills should be optimised for the task to be carried out. Smooth discs in horizontal mills have been replaced by progressively improved designs. A new mill design uses advanced discs with a ceramic liner that gives very efficient cooling. In one test series, overall production rate could be quadrupled. Note de contenu : - Evolution of a new grinding system
- Pratical test shows greatly increased productivity
- Flexible configuration enhances efficiency
- New mill is designed to simplify operationEn ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ofgIB6emTeE6sh517A6PU_SypTwAHYFy/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=24699

Tension superficielleIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : To prevent air entrapment and foaming, defoamers are usually added to water-borne coating formulations. Defoamer performance was studied by capturing high resolution images of a coating sprayed on glass substrates. Image analysis provided a quantitative measure of the efficacy of additives. Surprisingly, the most effective product was a non-ionic wetting agent rather than a defoamer. Note de contenu : - Surface tension measurement procedure
- Application and imaging procedure
- Impact of varying addition rates is checked
- Results of bubble entrapment study
- Procedure offers potential for more detailled studiesEn ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mQXurLwninJIsARNqQGsXJ1DdwVbCd4C/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=24704

Rhéologie
ViscositéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A technology termed "Acid Supression" allows efficient HEUR rheology modifiers to be supplied at high solids content, without the use of solvents or surfactants. This also allows different polymer structures to be created, which show a range of performance benefits. Note de contenu : - The problems of heur supply viscosity
- Different solutions to high supply viscosity issues
- Performance benefits of the new heurs
- Highly efficient mid-shear products
- Improved tinting and sag/levelling balance
- Hiding power improved in practical application
- Stable viscosity is attained more rapidly
- High shear viscosity obtained with less syneresis

Formulation (Génie chimique)
KaolinIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is traditionally used as a white pigment in water-and solvent-base liquid inks. High levels (more than 30wt%) are typically required to achieve an acceptable level of opacity at low print thickness, but at these levels the pigment particles can become significantly crowded, resulting in a decraese in scattering efficiency and hiding power. Pulverised ultrafine kaolin can be added to achieve similar print gloss and print density/opacity at reduced TiO2 level in white flexographic ink formulations. Note de contenu : - Opacity optimisation with TiO2 and extenders in inks vs. paints
- Using kaolin to achieve high gloss and better spacing of TiO2
- Formulation methodology to show opacity benefits of ultrafine kaolin
- Change in surface roughness, print gloss and print density with kaolin addition
- Examination of distribution of TiO2 and kaolin particles in printed ink layer
- Summary of opportunities with kaolin and other extenders in packaging inks
