The simulation requires only the particle size distribution of the pigment, the particle size distribution of the latex, and the deformation or softness of the latex. If these data are known, the packing density can be determined from the simulation. If paints with a range of pigment volume concentrations (PVC) are simulated, the critical PVC can be predicted from plots of packing density against PVC. The predicted values are in good agreement with experiment. Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=18573

Surfaces (technologie)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Conducting polymers (CPs) such as polyaniline (PANI), polypyrrole (PPy), and polythiophene (PTh) are used for the corrosion protection of metals and metal alloys. Several groups have reported diverse views about the corrosion protection by CPs and hence various mechanisms have been suggested to explain anticorrosion properties of CPs. These include anodic protection, controlled inhibitor release as well as barrier protection mechanisms. Different approaches have been developed for the use of CPs in protective coatings (dopants, composites, blends). A judicious choice of synthesis parameters leads to an improvement in the anticorrosion properties of the coatings prepared by CPs for metals and their alloys. This article is prepared as a review of the application of CPs for corrosion protection of metal alloys. Note de contenu : - CORROSION BASICS : Thermodynamics of corrosion

Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.6 Peintures Résumé : The basic process of film coalescence has been described frequently in the conservation and paint industry literature, though technologists acknowledge the over-simplification of this model and the need for further research. Acrylic emulsions are composed of particles of amorphous polymer suspended in water. The two-phased system is held in suspension by surfactants and/or other surface stabilisers. During drying, water evaporates to draw the spherical polymer particles Gloser, which then meld together to form a 'honeycomb' network. A coalescing-solvent additive ensures that the polymer particles remain malleable during — and after— this process, to produce more complete compaction, even after the water has evaporated. Eventually, the boundaries between particles become barely detectable and the film is considered continuous. However, it has been shown that pores or micro-voids are often left within the film, readily seen with light microscopy and SEM. minimum film formation temperature (MFT), modulus of elasticity and viscosity of the resin, as well as the function of additives such as coalescing agents. Paints left to dry slightly below their Tg and MFT wi II result in films of h igher porosity. A paint drying significantly below its Tg will form a loose, powdery layer.

Note de contenu : - Viscosité
