The effect of inhibitor concentration, temperature, and concentration of the corrosion medium on the inhibitor action was investigated. The surface morphology of the metal surface was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The inhibition efficiency increased with the increase in the concentration of the inhibitor, but decreased with the increase in temperature. Both thermodynamic and kinetic parameters were calculated and discussed. The adsorption of MAMT on the base alloy was found to be through physisorption, obeying Langmuir’s adsorption isotherm. The results obtained from both the techniques were in good agreement with each other. PerméationIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Objectives : Laboratory in vitro permeation processes require the use of modified Franz type diffusion cells which are conventionally fabricated from glass. Fragility and high cost are frequently associated with this type of laboratory apparatus. The purpose of our present research was to develop a simple, economical and versatile approach to manufacture Franz type cells using additive manufacturing (AM).
- Methods : Graphical Franz diffusion cell designs were reproduced with a stereolithography (SLA) 3D printer and assessed over a minimum period of 24 h. The surface morphology of AM printouts was analysed before and after compatibility studies using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Comparative permeation studies in both glass and AM Franz type diffusion cells were conducted using a caffeine solution (1.5 mg mL‑1), applied to a model silicone membrane.
- Results : Testing of the 3D printed scaffolds confirmed similar recovery of the permeant when compared to glass cells : 1.49 ± 0.01 and 1.50 ± 0.01 mg mL-1, respectively, after 72 h. No significant differences were visible from the SEM micrographs demonstrating consistent, smooth and non-porous surfaces of the AM Franz cells’ core structure. Permeation studies using transparent 3D printed constructs resulted in 12.85 ± 0.53 µg cm2 caffeine recovery in the receptor solution after 180 min with comparable permeant recovery, 11.49 ± 1.04 µg cm2, for the glass homologues.
- Conclusion : AM constructs can be considered as viable alternatives to the use of conventional glass apparatus offering a simple, reproducible and cost-effective method of replicating specialised laboratory glassware. A wider range of permeants will be investigated in future studies with these novel 3D printed Franz diffusion cells.Note de contenu : - Fig. 1 : AM Franz diffusion type cell design generated in TinkerCADâ„¢ and cell printout top view

ThermogravimétrieIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The present paper discusses the adsorption and desorption kinetics of silica coated on cotton (CO) and polyester (PES) textile fabrics. Surfaces of CO and PES textile were coated by the sol–gel process using tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) and chloropropyltriethoxysilane (CPTS) as silica precursors. The silica concentration was determined according to NF T90-007 standard. The kinetic adsorption data for CO samples can be described by the pseudo-first order and by the pseudo-second order for those of PES. The highest adsorption and desorption rate of silica was found for CO fabrics treated with CPTS and TEOS, respectively. The analysis of variance (ANOVA) was carried out to statistically verify the result found from adsorption and desorption experimental manipulations. The results of silica adsorption and desorption were statistically analyzed according to ANOVA test with a significance level of 0.05. Scanning electron microscopy observations were taken to assess the effect of desorption in the morphology of the coated fabrics. The mechanical properties of textile fabrics were investigated by the uniaxial traction test according to NF EN ISO 13934-1:2013 standard. Thermogravimetric analysis was used to investigate the thermal stability of fabrics in air. The results showed that both the mechanical and thermal properties of textile samples after silica desorption did not change radically. Also, their water repellency remained significant even after the desorption test. Spectrométrie à énergie dispersiveIndex. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : The adsorption of basic green 4 from aqueous solution on calcium exchanged clay (Attock-Ca and Swat-Ca) was studied. Clays were first purified and activated with H2SO4and then exchanged with Ca2+ions. Clay was characterized by BET surface area, XRD and SEM/EDS. The adsorption kinetic at 298 K and 306 K showed that the first order models were applied to the data. The rate constant increased with the rise in temperature of adsorption/activation. Thermodynamic properties (ΔE≠, ΔH≠, ΔS≠and ΔG≠) for the adsorption process were calculated. Positive values of ΔH≠showed that the adsorption of basic green 4 is endothermic. Positive values of ΔS≠reflected the increase in the disorder of the system at the solid-solution interface during adsorption. The Gibbs free energy, which is the driving force for adsorption is negative indicating spontaneous adsorption. Freundlich’s and Langmuir’s models described the equilibrium adsorption study and found to fit the experimental data. RechercheIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Early microscopy techniques, such as optical, or the former electronic microscopy techniques, were widely utilised in leather research, mainly as an initial approach, or as additional tool to obtain useful information. Throughout the ages, the developments reached in microscopy technologies have allowed their utilisation as the main, determining tool to get results in many research fields.12
The modern scanning electron microscopy (SEM) technique that we have utilized in leather research, was equipped with an X-ray probe for the microanalysis of the samples and has resulted in being the most required, versatile tool in many applications: hair characterisation, characterisation of micro¬organisms involved in leather damage, investigations on leather defects and their causes, finishing characterisation, surface treatment studies, diagnostic investigations of historic leathers for their value and conservation.
ln the majority of these applications a very small portion of sample was available for the analysis. In spite of this, the technique gave.comprehensive results and was able to solve the most problematic cases of leather damage that we investigated. Particularly, SEM rnicroanalysis is considered to be 'non-destructive' indeed, as X-rays generated by electron interactions do not lead to volume loss of the sample, so it is possible to analyze the same materials repeatedly.
The study provided much interesting feedback, reinforcing our knowledge on all the topics dealt with.Note de contenu : - Morphological studies
