The conventional coatings fails in protecting concrete structures, because they are only capable of accommodating substrate movement associated with normal thermal conditions. They cannot withstand crack development, cyclic crack opening and extremes of temperature conditions. The result is that, such coating cracks and loses its protective power. Once air and acid containing moisture has access to exposed reinforcement bar, considerable damage could occur in leading to concrete deterioration. This paper will focus on an important class of coatings High Build Elastomeric Coatings capable of answering all such substrate movements over long periad of time and over a broad range cf temperatures, thereby providing total concrete protection. Such coatings are described in details over here w. r. t. specific performance requirements, formulations, processing technique, surface preparation and application methods. Paint manufacturers are increasingly using colour pastes
in as many coating formulations as possible. Pastes can be blended with one another or added to binders and other components and thus incorporated into a paint formulation in a relatively short time. The mixing of small batches, elimination of expensive cleaning operations and the reduction of the raw material inventories, machiner) occupancy and space requirements, leads to lower manufacturing costs.
CONCLUSION : Allnex has extended its range of grinding media with the introduction of the truc universal grinding medium Additol XW 6565 for both solventborne and waterborne decorative paints. Additol XW 6565 joins the other grinding media available for water-based automotive and protective coatings and solvent-based industrial systems.
Additol XW 6565 clearly brings advantages for the manufacture of pigment pastes and paints in the decorative market.
- Effective in waterborne and solventborne systems
- Cost-efficient manufacturing due to cycle time and inventory reduction and equipment flexibility
- High pigment colour efficiency
- Higher pigment loading at moderate viscosities for easy incorporation
- Improved anti-floating effect, colour and paste stability, and compatibility with solventborne resins e Emulsifier-free
- Improved water and weather resistance in exterior paints
- Ultra-low VOCs
- Good performance in POS tinting machines.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Up5aZBt0p6QexM-9ohqr0gMloQzGJSz1/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=19317

Revêtements -- Additifs:Peinture -- AdditifsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Within the European union, biocidal product is defined as a chemical substance or micro-organism with the intention of destroying, deterring, rendering harmless, preventing the action of, or otherwise exerting a controlling effect on, any harmful organism by any means other than mere physical or mechanical action (Regulation (EU) 528/2012).
A paint contains pigments and binders. Additives and solvents, such as water are added to optimise the paint performance. The paint formulation is often a liquid formulation due to the ease of application to reach the protective, aesthetic and other intended functions a coating film may have in order to protect the substrate beneath. Despite this, about half of the material is lost during paint film formation.
Due to environmental and health and safety concerns there has for many years, been a trend to switch the paint medium from organic solvents to water. The formulations had to be re-designed to incorporate a hydrophobic paint binder into a hydrophilic water medium. Furthermore, the addition of water into the formulation makes the can a suitable habitat for micro-organisms, such as bacteria, algae and fungi, which can survive in both aerobic and anaerobic conditions. That is the place the paint is stored after production until application and use of the peint. The traditional way to prepare a peint has been to optimise all paint parameters and towards the end, add sufficient amount of biocide ta inhibit microbiological growth.Note de contenu : - IN-CAN PRESERVATION AND STORAGE : Learnings from other industries eg food industry - Change pH - Reduce nutrient availability - Enhancing or boosting biocide performance - Using paint from the in-can bottle
