However, the amine type hardeners often employed can easily react with atmospheric carbon dioxide and moisture to form carbamate salts. These carbamate salts accumulate on the surface and cause blush and intercoat adhesion issues. Adducts based on methylcyclohexyl diamine (MCDA, Baxxodur EC 210), a cycloaliphatic diamine curative for epoxy resin systems, displayed enhanced carbamate stability when compared to adducts based on both isophorone diamine (IPDA) and m-xylylene diamine (MXDA). This behaviour was further validated in coating tests, where coating formulations based on MCDA exhibited superior gloss. The cure behaviour, mechanical properties, and thermal properties of MCDA, IPDA, and MXDA cured systems were also assessed using various analytical techniques such as differential scanning calorimetry and rheology. Overall, MCDA was proven to be an attractive building block for epoxy diamine industrial coating systems.

Salissures biologiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Biofouling leads to unfavorable problems in underwater structures like ships’ hulls, aquaculture cages, fishnets, petroleum pipelines, sensors, and other equipment. The main target of antifouling applications is to prevent the early steps of fouling, namely microfouling (bacterial biofilm). In recent years, investigations into the development of environmentally friendly, nontoxic products in antifouling coating technology are becoming more widespread. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the antibiofilm activity of commercial hydrolytic enzymes (α-amylase, xylanase, glucanase, protease, pectinase, lipase, viscozyme, and lysing complex) against marine biofilm bacteria (Pseudoalteromonas agarivorans FJ040188, Vibrio lentus FJ200649, and Exiguobacterium homiense FJ200653). The experimental method involved a prevention and detachment test based on bacterial adhesion in a microplate and biomass quantification of the total biofilm using DAPI fluorescent dye after a 24-hour incubation period. Results from the screening of the biofilm percentage reduction in the enzymes, a lysing complex enzyme, were seen to be the most effective in both the prevention of bacterial adhesion and the detachment of adhered bacteria. Epifluorescence microscopy analysis of DAPI-stained adhered bacteria using lysing complex confirmed these results. It was seen that the mixtures of enzymes selected for present study have the potential to be employed as environmentally friendly antifouling additives in marine antifouling coatings. In the paint and coatings industry the use and the knowledge of additives was always an important part of success. Little amounts can change the performance a lot. Among the wide spread classes of additives the thickeners play an important role. Even mostly just called 'thickeners', they are mainlt thixotropes, which give the coating its typical application and storage properties. The largely used thixotropes are organoclays, fumed silicas and castor waxes. Among all applications, there are typical ones for each kind of thixotrope, defined by its inherent strength. This paper concentrates on a new kind of thixotrope which is based originally on organoclay chemistry but spreads out the application areas to new grounds, showing unique properties - the mixed mineral thixotropes - or MMT.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aTIXJIPLOPP03M8knoVa5yjnHH_i-kNH/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=27263
