Widely used for 40 years, BIT has become the main building block for in-can preservation but has some perceived weaknesses, which can be overcome by using it in combination with other biocides. Now, by combining BIT with zinc omadine antimicrobial and thus joining an electrophilic activity with a membrane activity, it is possible to create a biocide that can both inhibit the growth bacteria and actively break down the cell membrane. |
