Replacements for TGIC in powder coatings / Carl Appelgren in EUROPEAN COATINGS JOURNAL (ECJ), N° 03/01 (03/2001)

[article]

In this work, formulations from various coatings manufacturers, using four of these alternative substances, were tested with respect to their corrosion protection, adhesion, gloss, elasticity and application parameters. Their performance was comparable to that of TGIC-formulations. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTS : 11 powder coating formulations - Iron and zinc-manganese phosphated steel substrates
- WATERBORNE ACRYLIC ANTICORROSIVE PRIMER
- LABORATORY TESTING OF ADHESION, GLOSS, ELASTICITY, APPLICATION, AND CURING : Field testing
- RESULTS AND DISCUSSION : TGIC formulations do not protect significantly better than alternatives - Primer can deteriorate the corrosion protection - Widely scattering adhesion performance - cohesive failure in the primer - Highest gloss with TGIC - Elasticity depends on both primer and topcoat - Alternative curing agents take up more changeEn ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OnJEUIz9Efx3BqqjRI8VuZMskI0xnB8r/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=24211

Surfaces fonctionnellesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Anti fouling is the process of removing or preventing the accumulation of marine organisms from the surface of hull and the paint used for this application is called anti fouling paint. Marine biofouling is of major economic concern to ail marine industries. The shipping trade is particularly alert to the development of new antifouling (AF) strategies, especially green AF paint as international regulations regarding the environmental impact of the compounds actually incorporated into the formulations are becoming more and stricter. It is then crucial to develop new AF solutions combining advances in marine chemistry and topography, in addition to acknowledge of marine biofoulers, with respect to the marine environment. This review presents the recent research progress made in the field of new non-toxicAF solutions (new microtexturing of surfaces, foul-release coatings, and with a special emphasis on marine natural antifoulants) as well as the perspectives for future research directions.
