Pigments organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : The paint industry in the country performs a very vital rote in the protection of national assets from corrosion. Organic surface coatings are the cheapest and most convenient mode of protection of metals and non-metals from corrosion. Pigments are the integral part of surface coatings special ly when used for corrosion protection. There are pigments which are specially meant for th is very purpose and are known as anti corrosive pigments. Anti-corrosive pigments inhibit corrosion process either chemically and/or electrochemically (Active Pigments) and/or physically (Barrier Pigments) and may be divided by the way they work. Métaux -- Revêtements protecteurs
Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The philosophy and chemistry of corrosion has made a great progress in recent years. The economics, safety & regulations of operating equipment and conservation of limited material resources cause seriousness of corrosion. The corrosion; vulture of metallurgy, is the biggest challenge before the world where 10-12 percent of the metal is lost. This loss can be mitigated by suitable coatings and timely inspection of the coatings with the available technology. The organic coating is the cheapest and simplest mode of mitigating corrosion if its selection and application is done judiciously. The interface between a metallic substrate and an organic adherent, be it a coating or an adhesive, is of crucial importance in determining the performance of that system. The problem should be full, understood and analyzed by those who are confronted with it, otherwise the preservation of corrosion will remain largely a question of "hit and miss" with more misses than hits. Corrosion
Industrie pétrolière et gazière -- Matériaux
Métaux -- Revêtements protecteursIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Corrosion in petroleum industry causes a loss of billions of dollars every year. Many cases of extensive corrosion have occurred in production tubing, valves, and in flow lines from the wellhead to the processing equipment. The reason for this is that ail and gas from the well contain varying amounts of water, which can be precipitated as a separate phase in contact with the material surface, and that th is water contains gases such as CO2 and possibly H2S, as well as salts. In most cases of severe corrosion, CO2 plays a major role. Uniform corrosion taking place causes 30% failures and other 70% is caused by Iocalized corrosion. Various methods of controlling corrosion are discussed here. Note de contenu : - Petroleum industry

Corrosion rates depend upon various process parameters like pH, temperature, cane juice brix, dissolved oxygen content etc. The losses due to corrosion may lead to unexpected failures, plant breakdown and poor quality & contaminated product. The remedial measures should be taken for the prevention of corrosion like application of protective coatings after the adequate surface preparation or proper selection of the materials of the process equipments.
