VulcanisationIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) are finding increasing use, as both manufacturers and processors come under constant pressure to innovate. A major disadvantage of TPE as compared with conventional vulcanizates is their tension set, which it has now been possible to minimize by post-crosslinking of the elastomer phase. This opens up opportunities for processors to develop further applications for commercially available TPE. Note de contenu : - Crosslinking methods

PolyadditionIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Several potential initiators based on benz[cd]indol-2(1H)-one dye have been synthesised and evaluated in the radical polymerisation of a system containing trimethylolpropane triacrylate under visible light. Absorption, fluorescence, and phosphorescence spectra and the electrochemical properties of these novel dyes were determined. Owing to the presence of an appropriate hydrogen donor group in their structure, these photoinitiators do not need an extra coinitiator to initiate the polymerisation process. During photopolymerisation they act both as a triplet sensitiser and as a hydrogen donor. The relationship between the polymerisation rate and the triplet-excited-state reduction potential suggests that initiating radicals are formed from the triplet state via hydrogen transfer. This mechanism is supported by density functional theory calculations. 8-Bromo-6-[(2-sulphanylethyl)sulphanyl]benzo[cd]indol-2(1H)-one and 8-bromo-6-sulphanylbenz[cd]indol-2(1H)-one may be applied as visible-light initiators of free radical polymerisation to obtain a low-molecular-weight polymer.
Si(OCH2CH3)4 + 2 H2O → SiO2 + 4 CH3CH2OH.

The prepolymer was mixed with crosslinking agent and photoinitiator to form coating formulas. The coating was characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and contact angle measurements. The results indicated that the dosage of AMPS and TEOS had great influence on the antifog performance. With an increasing TEOS amount, the hardness, adhesion, water resistance, impact resistance, and thermal stability of the films were improved, at the expense of transparency ; with increasing dosage of AMPS, the hydrophilicity of the film increased at the expense of water resistance. Optimum coating properties could be obtained when the amount of AMPS was 7% and that of TEOS was 5.5%. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) results showed that some SiO2 microspheres were formed and microphase separation occurred between the macromolecular segments, yielding the excellent coating properties. Index. décimale : 667.4 Encres Résumé : Thioxanthone derivatives are synthesized as one-component photoinitiators via a simple condensation reaction between thiosalicylic acids and heterocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in a concentrated sulfuric acid medium. TX-C (Thioxanthrone–carbazole), TX-N-I (Thioxanthrone–N-methylindole) and TX-I (Thioxanthrone–indole) are characterized by 1HNMR (nuclear magnetic resonance), FTIR (fourier transform infrared spectroscopy), ultraviolet–visible spectrophotometry, fluorescence spectroscopy, elemental analysis and TG (thermal gravimetric analysis). TX-N-I and TX-I both possess an absorption characteristic similar to the parent thioxanthone with a maximum at 397nm (ε = 3240 L mol−1 cm−1) and 395 nm (ε = 1920 L mol−1 cm−1). The introduction of heterocyclic structures makes the maximum absorption peak red-shifted by 10 nm compared to TX. Its capabilities to act as initiator for the photopolymerization of PEGDA (polyethylene glycol diacrylate) and TMPTA (trimethylolpropane triacrylate) in the absence and presence of TEOA (triethanolamine) media are also examined. TX-N-I acts as an efficient initiator in the UV curable ink, whose light curing time is only 12 s. Note de contenu : - Materials

Sels de borateIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : New photoinitiating systems composed of benzothiazolestyrylium dyes as chromophores and n-butyltriphenylborate anion as electron donor were prepared and characterised. Photoredox pairs consisting of hemicyanine dyes and organoborate salts may act as visible-light photoinitiators for the radical polymerisation of multifunctional acrylates. The efficiences of these photoinitiator systems are based on the free energy changes of an electron transfer from borate salt to the dye. Experimental results show that the photoinitiating ability of the photoredox pair tested strongly depends upon the reduction potential of hemicyanine dye, the oxidation potential of borate salt, and the structure of the dicationic dye.
