Séparation (technologie)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Polysiloxane is a promising modified material due to its good hydrophobicity and toughness, but it suffers from serious uneven distribution and migration during film formation process which gradually lead to the destruction of the hydrophobic structure. A novel silicon-modified copolymer with different molecular weight and vinyl content was synthesized to overcome this problem: an appropriate amount of double bonds between the polysiloxane backbone ensures uniform distribution. Moreover, a multicrosslinked network binder was prepared by miniemulsion polymerization of the polyacrylate copolymers and polysiloxane. Unlike the common crosslinked network of an uneven distribution and migration of silicone backbone, the polysiloxane with suitable crosslinking degree and molecular weight could be effectively distributed evenly during the film formation process. As a result, a better hydrophobicity and toughness performance (89.7° ± 0.5°, 2500% elongation at break) was achieved with this novel poly(methylvinylsiloxane) with 11,024 g/mol at 0.804 mmol/g vinyl content. The product was applied to pigment printing with better wet rubbing fastness and soft handle compared with the unmodified polyacrylates binder. The DSC, SAXS, and XPS indicated that high molecular organosilicon chain and moderate vinyl content were prone to phase separation and obviously shifted onto the surface of film, enriching a uniform organosilicon layer, which played a vital role in the surface hydrophobicity and mechanical properties.

The major drawback of this process is poor mechanical property due to the porous structure of final parts. This process requires careful management of coalescence phenomenon. In this paper, the major influencing factors during the FFF processing of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) were investigated experimentally and with a numerical model. It has been shown that the polymer temperature has a significant effect on the rheological behavior of PLA, especially on the adhesion of the filaments. An experimental set-up has been placed in the machine to have the cyclic temperature of the filament. A variation of the polymer temperature influences process parameters such as feed rate, temperature of the nozzle and temperature of the platform. The results showed that the amount of polymeric coalescence (neck growth) rises when increasing the feed rate, the nozzle temperature, and the platform temperature. A model to predict the neck growth is proposed. It predicts a lower amount of neck growth value than obtained experimentally. This difference has been explained as the effect of other phenomena, such as polymer relaxation time, pressure of the nozzle and especially cyclic temperature which is not taken into account in the model.
MesureIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Reinforcing injection-moulded plastics with short natural fibres is a topical issue. The objective is to at least partially replace glass fibres to obtain lighter, more environment-friendly parts. Natural fibres need to be graded for particle size, since their dimensions will influence the properties of the final composite, and the variance among natural products is well known. Tests d'efficacitéIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Dermatological tests in accordance with scientific criteria are of decisive value for the safety and efficacy of cosmetics. Latest alterations in the European legislation emphasise this fact. Whether a cosmetic product is well tolerated or causes irritations or allergic reactions must be proven by dermatological tests. The range of test methods starts with simple questionnaires and ends with complex physiological measurements. The quality of dermatological reports directly depends on the seriousness of the commissioned dermatologists. Pitfalls occur whenever non qualified scientific results are generously used for advertising campaigns like 'dermatologically tested', tested', 'hypo-allergen' etc. Additionally a lot of reports are scientifically insufficient. Dermatological reports on cosmetics thérefore must be valid in scientific methods and practical execution. (wiktionnaire)Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Pore structure of leather plays an important role in leather-making process as well as in characterization of comprehensive properties of leather. In this study, scanning electron microscopy, mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP), capillary flow porometry and nitrogen adsorption techniques were used for characterization of the hierarchical pore structure of leather. From the comparison, MIP was found to be more suitable for pore measurement of leather in consideration of its extensive measuring range (from 5.48 nm to 120 μm), high accuracy (measuring both through pores and blind pores in leather) and satisfactory repeatability (with RSD of 3.25% and 1.73% for average pore diameter and porosity, respectively). Then the MIP test conditions were optimized. The appropriate conditions were found to be that a leather sample (approx. 3 cm × 2 cm and 0.6 g) is used for determination with a stem volume around 50%. Blank correction is conducted in the measurement with the maximum pressure of 33000 psia and the equilibration time of 10 s. In general, the characterization of the hierarchical pore structure of leather by MIP is a meaningful aid to explore the relationship between structure and property of leather.
