Traction (mécanique)Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Fibre-reinforced plastics (FRP) in the form of continious fibre-reinforced thermoplastics composites exhibit a great potential for mass production of complex, load-bearing and recyclable components in automotive and mechanical engineering.
The use of thermoplastics matrix materials makes it possible to manufacture lightweight, high-quality complex-shape composites cost-efficiently and with high productivity. To ensure the demanded short cycle times while simultaneously guaranteeing highly specific properties of structural components, the most suitable method is hot pressing, using deep drapable multilayers and 3D-shaped thermoplastic preforms based on thermoplastic hybrid yarns. The advantages of glass fibre/PP hybrid yarns are their homogenous combination of continuous filaments, as well as their great yarn compaction, which permits further textile technological processing. Commercially available yarn materials can be used in widely varying forms, and the individual intra-yarn content percentages can be ajusted to preference oven an exrensive range. 3D-shaped multilayer woven fabrics are suited for the reinforcement od higher-gauge FRP due to the use of thicker and preferably compact fabrics, as their multilayers structure helps minimase the usual stacking of multiple individual reinforcement layers. In this study, hybrid yarns and composite sheets made of multilayers woven fabtics are tested according to their mechanical properties.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Hybrid yarn manufacturing - Weaving technology for 3D-multilayer woven spacer fabric - Thermoforming process

Soudage laserIndex. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : Laser transmission welding involves joining of transmitting and absorbing thermoplastic polymer components. Absorption is normally controlled by addition of small amounts of carbon black (CB). In thermal modelling of the process, the laser-light absorption coefficient is an important parameter that controls the rate and distribution of heat generation in the absorbing component. This paper introduces a novel experimental method to conveniently and accurately measure the absorption coefficient in the absorbing component. In this method, a laser beam scans rapidly over the surface of the CB-filled polymer. The laser power resulting in the onset of surface melting can be obtained and used to calculate the absorption coefficient based on an analytical model presented in this paper. To validate the proposed method, the experimental results were compared with those obtained by the spectrophotometer and the power-meter methods using unreinforced and glass-fiber reinforced nylon 6. The results indicate that there is a linear relationship between the absorption coefficient and carbon black level for these two polymers. The influence of glass fibers and laser scan speed on the measurement are also discussed.
