Test balistiqueIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : The dynamic behaviour of a carbon fibre-reinforced composite (CFRC) was investigated to estimate the perforation resistance of a 10-mm-thick plate. Fundamental tests were performed to obtain independent static and dynamic material properties. The dynamic response of CFRC was investigated using plate impact experiments and ballistic tests were performed in Thiot Ingénierie's shock physics impact test facility. Simulations were also conducted in the company's laboratory. This paper deals with an LS DYNA TM model validation process that includes a dynamic constitutive model and a failure criterion based on experimental correlation.

UltrasonsIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : In this study, leather was dyed using ultrasound and conventional methods to investigate the influence of ultrasound on leather dyeing. Ultrasound is more effective than mechanical agitation in enhancing leather dyeing. Effects of various process parameters, such as, dyeing temperature, dyeing time and doses of dye on dyeing of leather in presence of ultrasound were investigated. Dyed leathers were characterized with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), photomicrographic analysis, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), etc. It was observed that percentage exhaustion of dye, dye uptake, dye penetration and diffusion coefficient were increased significantly in presence of ultrasound compared to those of dyeing in absence of ultrasound. Moreover, physical properties of the dyed leathers were also investigated. Color rub fastness, perspiration, tensile strength, etc. of dyed leather in presence of ultrasound were higher than that of without ultrasound. SEM analyses of the surface and cross section of the dyed leather showed that fiber structure was not affected by ultrasound. Photomicrographic analysis of cross-section of the dyed leather also showed a deeper penetration of dye in presence of ultrasound. Consequently, dye content in the spent liquor was decreased resulting in a lower environmental pollution.

Tannage Résumé : A chromium-free amphoteric polymer retanning agent was prepared by free radical polymerization reaction of undecylenic aldehyde (UAL), acrylic acid (AA) and dimethyl diallyl ammonium chloride (DADMAC) as raw materials. The structure of amphoteric polymer retanning agent was characterized by FT-IR and 1H-NMR. Amphoteric polymer retanning agent was applied to the retanning of vegetable-tanned light leather to investigate the binding ability of crust leather to anionic dyes, fat liquoring agent and physical-mechanical properties of the crust leather. The results showed that the synthesized amphoteric polymer retanning agent was successfully prepared. The application trial indicated that the amphoteric polymer retanning agent can improve the binding capacity between leather and anion dye and fat liquoring agent in the retanning process. The dye absorption rate of the crust leather was up to 99.58% and the dyeing liquor was clear. Furthermore, color of the crust leather was uniform and full and its K/S value and drywet rub fastness, thickening rate and physical-mechanical properties were higher than that of the retanned leather by acrylic resin retanning agent. In addition, the crust leather after retanning with amphoteric polymer retanning agent has good softness, and the absorption rate of fat liquoring agent was 99.62%. The above results showed that amphoteric polymer retanning agent possessed the good retanning property in vegetable tanned sheep garment leather. Tribologie (technologie)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The influence of 0.5, 0.75, and 1 wt.% of graphene oxide (GrO) in nanocomposite coating on scratch behavior and tribological performance was analyzed. Graphite was oxidized using the Marcano and Tour method to obtain graphite oxide, which is thermally exfoliated at 700°C getting graphene oxide. The transformation of graphite to graphene oxide was evaluated via Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. Effects of graphene oxide content on the friction and wear behavior of polyester composite coatings were evaluated under dry sliding conditions. Experimental findings showed that the addition of 0.5 wt.% GrO was effective in reducing the friction coefficient of polyester coating. Meanwhile, under the same sliding conditions, the wear results revealed that the polyester coating filled with 1 wt.% GrO has better antiwear ability compared to those filled with 0.5 and 0.75 wt.% GrO. From the scratch analyses, we deduced that coating scratch behavior was highly affected by the amount of fillers inside the polyester matrix. In fact, the best friction characteristic and scratch resistance were observed in the case of polyester coatings filled with the lower amount of GrO, namely 0.5 wt.%.
