The polymer types range from the two extremes of dispersions of highly insoluble polymers in water to highly water-soluble polymers, and cover a whole range of intermediate types, such as hydrophobically modified water-soluble polymers, swollen microgels, alkali soluble emulsions, alkali swellable emulsions, and water-reducible polymers. The key properties of each type are discussed with reference to the ways they are utilized in aqueous coatings and their film forming behavior. Particular emphasis is placed on key developments over the years, and on more recent developments, such as associative thickeners, aqueous dispersions of step growth polymers (notably aqueous polyurethanes), hybrid systems in which more than one polymer type is combined in the same system, aqueous radiation curing, voided polymer particles, and sequential polymerization techniques to give control over the morphology of emulsion polymer particles. The paper ends with a discussion of some of the deficiencies of waterborne coatings which will need to be addressed in the future. Note de contenu : - SOLUBILIZING GROUPS

In this issue you will find PU formulation - Acrylic based, Short oil coconut, medium oil alkyd, epoxy based, PU clear acrylic based and special formulation by author which is castor oil based, which is very economical in price.
Similarly we can have polyester based formulations too.
Nowadays apart from protective coatings, PU based coatings are used on wood also. Water based PU paints are also available.
Waterbased PU dispersions single packs are very popular.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/18k_FpmQIKZmSMkoMJiEx8zAy_cSJQeaC/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=24839

For optical performance the traditional alkyd/MF paint has an advantages over the two powder coatings systems. However from an environmental standpoint would be preferred to the solvent containing alkyd/MF paint. The epoxy/polyester coating, is from a raw material cost perspective, substantially cheaper than the UV powder coating. However, when giving consideration to the full coating process coats, the UV powder coating will be more advantageous for time (fast UV curing cycle) and energy (low melt schedule). Another major benefit is that the UV powder coating can be used with heat sensitive substrates, like plastics and wood that are distorted at the higher temperatures required for cure in thermosetting systems.Note de contenu : - Methodology

SpécificationsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The principle function of a primer for iron and steel is prevention of corrosion, the primer is applied directly onto the cleaned steel surface or, in the case of duplex systems, the sealed metal coating. Its purpose is to wet the surface and to provide good adhesion for subsequently applied coats. For primers applied directly to steel surfaces, these are also usually required to provide corrosion inhibition. There are three basic types of primers. Revêtements:PeintureIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Modified alkyd resins were produced by alcoholysis of soya bean oil with pentaerythritol followed by esterification with pentaerythritol and phthalic anhydride. Various catalysts with different contents, including LiOH, butyl tin oxide and dibutyl tin chloride, were used for alcoholysis and/or esterification reactions. The effect of the catalyst on the reduction of the process time of alkyds, and their physicochemical and film properties, were investigated and evaluated. The catalytic system LiOH 0.07% — dibutyl tin chloride 0.2% proved to be the best catalyst system followed by LiOH 0.07%. The coating film characteristics of two paints, formulated with selected alkyds, were measured and compared. Note de contenu : - Materials
