ToucherIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Nano sized aminofunctional and micron sized dimethyl polysiloxane emulsions were applied to garment leathers as topcoats, to investigate the improvement on feel touch permanency of finished leathers. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and particle size analysis of these two polysiloxane emulsions were carried out. The optimum application amount of emulsions was determined to be 15% based on the results of organoleptic evaluation and dynamic friction coefficients. After the application of nano and micron sized polysiloxane, three different accelerated ageing processes were applied to leathers under controlled temperature, humidity and UV light conditions. For determining the effect of the ageing processes on these polysiloxanes, dynamic friction coefficient measurements, ICP-OES and SEM analysis were carried out. The results revealed that nano sized polysiloxanes clearly improved the feel touch permanency of finished leathers in comparison to the leathers coated with micron sized polysiloxanes. Thereby, it was demonstrated that nano polysiloxanes can maintain the appearance and feel touch of leather product for a longer periods of time.
Si(OCH2CH3)4 + 2 H2O → SiO2 + 4 CH3CH2OH.

Revêtements protecteursIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Silicon dioxide coatings modified by (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (ATS) were studied to test their potential use as materials for stone protection. The synthetic route is simple and environmentally friendly due to the lack of volatile organic components. These materials are simply obtained by mixing tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS), ATS, and OH-terminal polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS-OH). The ATS acts as a curing catalyst and coupling agent. The formulations can be directly applied onto stone substrates, particularly the external stone of buildings. Thus, the goal of an application of silicon dioxide modified by ATS is to restore and to protect building substrates. In the hybrid materials, PDMS acts to form bridges linking the silica particles. Finally, the effectiveness of these products as a stone consolidant and coating was assessed by multiple indicators, including the mechanical resistance, peeling performance, water uptake by capillarity, and contact angle. The ZnO microparticles are fabricated by our original hydrothermal method and intentionally have a defect structure. According to our understanding, this peculiar defect structure contributes to the greatly enhanced photocatalytic properties of the ZnO material. The resulting photocatalyst demonstrates high activity under visible light (410 nm) in the process of phenol degradation in water solution, while generally ZnO is inactive below the UV range. In addition, we compare the photocatalytic activity of our ZnO/PDMS composite to that of the same ZnO powder suspension in a similar setup. We find that the same activity is achieved by three orders of magnitude smaller amount of ZnO in our composite compared to the powder suspension. The ZnO/PDMS interface exhibits sufficiently strong bonding for stable operation that is ensured during material production. The obtained photocatalytic material preserves the transparency of PDMS due to the low amount of attached ZnO (about 0.1% by mass). The transparency of the photocatalytic ZnO/PDMS material enables easy performance upgrades by constructing multilayer or manifold fluid treatment devices. Note de contenu : - Sample preparation

Textiles et tissus à usages techniquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In recent years, innovative technology based upon conductive textile yarns has undergone rapid growth. Nanocomposite-based wearable strain sensors hold great promise for a variety of applications, but specifically for human body motion detection. However, improving the sensitivity of these strain sensors while maintaining their durability remains a challenge in this arena. In the present investigation, polydopamine-treated and two-dimensional nanostructured material, e.g., reduced graphene oxide (rGO)-coated conductive cotton and polyester yarns, was encapsulated using polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) to develop robustly wash durable and mechanically stable conductive textile yarns. Flexibility and extensibility of all textile yarns of every stage were analyzed using texture analysis. The chemical interactions essential for measuring coating performance among all components were confirmed by Fourier transform infrared and scanning electron microscopy. The rGO-coated cotton and polyester yarns exhibited an extensibility of 11.77 and 73.59%, respectively. PDMS-coated conductive cotton and polyester yarns also showed an electrical resistance of 12.22 and 20.33 kΩ, respectively, after 10 washing cycles. The PDMS coating layer acted as a physical barrier against impairment of conductivity during washing. Finally, the mechanically stable and flexible conductive textile yarns were integrated into a knitted cotton glove and armband to create a highly stretchable and flexible textile-based strain sensor for measuring finger and elbow movement. Truly wearable garments able to record proprioceptive maps are critical for further developing this field of application. Note de contenu : - MATERIALS
