Polymers such as PEEK and fluorinated thermoplasts (PFA, FEP, mPTFE) may fulfill these requirements, if required as bicomponent fibers. Yet thermoplasts with melting point above 300 °C are demanding towards the process of filament spinning: conventional spinning lines are not designed for T 300 °C; no cleaning polymer is available at material change ; spin finishes are fuming at the high drawing temperatures. The fluoropolymers are even more straining due to their aggressive monomers, which build hydrofluoric acid that requires equipment of Hastelloy or Inconel. Only now spin pumps are available. The presentation will enlighten these concerns and gives a picture of the current state-of-the-art. Note de contenu : - FIGURES : 1. Tribologie (technologie)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : For the purposes of investigating the effects of ceria content on the anti-icing, hydrophobicity, and antiwear performances of ceria/polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) composite coatings, ceria/PTFE composite coatings with ceria mass fractions of 0%, 1%, 3%, 5%, and 7% were prepared via one-step spraying method. The water contact angles (WCAs) on the composite coatings were measured via contact angle measuring device. The antiwear performance was characterized via ball-on-disk sliding tribo-tests. Experimental results show that the addition of ceria with a content of 5 wt% is the most effective to enhance hydrophobicity of the coatings, resulting from the coating surface structure, roughness, and intrinsic hydrophobicity of ceria. Moreover, the addition of ceria is helpful to the improvement of antiwear performances of PTFE composite coatings, when the content of ceria is 1-7 wt%. Ceria/PTFE composite coatings with a ceria content of 5 wt% show a wear rate of 0.388 x 9 10-4 mm3/Nm, which is 80.6% lower than that of PTFE coating without ceria (2.000 x 10-4/Nm) Note de contenu : - Contact angle and coating surface topography

UsinageIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : This study investigates the abrasive water jet turning (AWJT) process of commonly used plastics, such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), castamide, and polyamide (PA), in engineering. Machining parameters were used as follows: nozzle feed rate (10, 30, and 50 mm min?1), abrasive flow rate (50, 250, and 450 g min?1), and spindle speed (1 000, 2 000, and 3 000 min?1). The effects of the machining parameters on the average surface roughness and material removal rate were investigated. According to results, average surface roughness and material removal rate were affected by the nozzle feed rate by 87.15 % and 82.48 %, abrasive flow rate by 9.84 % and 13.49 %, and spindle speed by 1.09 % and 0.08 %, respectively. Optimization results that the nozzle feed rate should be 10 mm min?1, while the abrasive flow rate is 450 g/min and spindle speed is 3 000 min?1 in order to obtain the minimum surface roughness and maximum material removal rate. PolytétrafluoréthylèneIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : In this paper, the parameters affecting the sealing life of UHMWPE and PTFE in ultra high pressure systems were investigated. A life test system was designed and manufactured in which different parameters can be tested in the sealing construction. The life test system consists of two hydraulic pressure intensifiers, and a hydraulic and electronic control unit. The effects of the extrusion gap, piston rod material and surface roughness, in addition to the material, geometry and number of the sealing elements, on the life of the sealing members were investigated. Two levels were determined for each parameter, and experiments were carried out at a pressure of 450 MPa according to a Taguchi L8 orthogonal experimental design. Pressure intensifiers were operated reciprocatively, thus allowing to perform two tests simultaneously, saving time. Working cycles of the pressure intensifiers were measured. Each experiment continued until the seals were damaged, and a critical leakage rate occurred at the pressure intensifiers. ANOVA was applied to the experimental results. According to the results, the most significant parameter affecting the sealing life is the extrusion gap with a rate of 77%, followed by the piston rod surface roughness with a rate of 13%, and the piston rod material with a rate of 4%. The effects of the remaining parameters on the sealing life are more limited. The results obtained will contribute to the industrial design of sealing structures for ultra-high pressures.
