Polymères -- Biodégradation
PolymérisationIndex. décimale : 660.2 Génie chimique Résumé : Bio-based polyesters attract a lot of interest with regard to sustainable development as alternatives to polymers derived from oil. Aliphatic polyesters are biodegradable and frequently biocompatible. Thanks to these properties, they have numerous applications in daily life such as packaging but also in niche markets (biomedical devices).
Ring-opening co-polymerization between epoxides and cyclic anhydrides produces polyesters with variable architectures. This synthetic approach is promising thanks to the wide availability of monomers. A huge asset of the copolymerization is to use monomers from biomass. Epoxides and anhydrides can indeed be obtained from natural resources such as carbohydrates, fatty acids and terpenes.Note de contenu : - POLYESTERS : AN ATTRACTIVE CLASS OF POLYMERS

Revêtements (produits chimiques):Peinture (produits chimiques)Index. décimale : 667.6 Peintures Résumé : The scope of this survey encompasses potential technical applications of renewable raw materials within the fields of paints, polymers, labricaflts, solvents and surfactants Interest in naturally derived raw materials has been growing in every segment of the chemical industry. The paint and coatings sector is no exception. One of the principles of green chemistry is to prioritize the use of alternative and renewable materials including the agricultural waste or biomass and non-food-related bioproducts Other principles focus on prevention of waste, less hazardous chemical syntheses, and designing safer chemicals including safer solvents. Other focus on the design of chemical products to safely degrade in the environment and efficiency and simplicity in chemical processes. A transformation to Green chemistry techniques would result in safer workplaces for industry workers, greatly reduced risks to fence line communities and safer products for consumers. Revêtements en phase aqueuse -- Additifs:Peinture en phase aqueuse -- AdditifsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : There is an increase in demand of eco-friendly biocides in the world due to increase in awareness about eco¬friendly products. Eco-friendly products are consisting of ingredients which are not harmfui to environment, like animais, soif, microbiological ecosystem, plants, aquatic animais & plants etc. Same is applied to paints. Paint contains mainly two components which are harmfu 1 to environment, biocides & Volatile Organic Compounds. VOC can be replaced by higher boiling point solvents. But in case of biocides it is seen that eco-friendly biocides are not as effective as harmful biocides at same concentration. Some of them are very sensitive to pH & temperature fluctuations (as low as 40° C & pH 8), which renders paint unprotected alter a particular time period. Also a tolerance & resistance is observed in microbes for few green biocides. At least 15 to 20 years time period is required to invent, to study & to register new molecule for different uses. So there is need of finding ways, alternatives & implementing stringent hygiene guidelines & awareness in view of introducing Eco-friendly biocides.
