More and more often, plastics already in use are substituted by lighter weight polymers. New low-density compounds exhibit not only good materials and processing properties. On top of that, they offer various secondary advantages, such as are illustrated by an engine room bulkhead cover and a car door sill. Note de contenu : - Bulkhead cover: same properties, cut density
- No alterations required to the existing mold
- Lighter door sills thanks to better fillers
- Hollow glass sphere-compound with improved scratch resistance

Results showed a drastic decrease of glass fiber length during compounding, typically from 3 500 to 350 µm. Fiber breakage depended on processing conditions: it increased with screw speed, but the effect of feed rate was less clear. Fiber breakage increased also with the severity of the screw profile. Characterizations of fiber length evolution along the screw profile have also been performed after dead-stop experiments. Generally speaking, fiber length evolution can be described using a modified Shon-Liu-White model, in which either the number of turns or the specific energy is considered. Firstly, collagen fibers were extracted from the wastes and their structure was characterized. The water absorbency of collagen fibers was tested and compared with that of wool and silk fibers. Then, successfully developed a composite of regenerated collagen fibers on a base layer of PA/PET and viscose fiber, and tested their physical Properties. The results indicated that most of the extracted short collagen fibers existed in bundles, their fibers' lengh were in the range of 25-45 mm, and their finesse was in the range of 2-5?m. The extent of water absorption of collagen fibers was similar to that of wool fiber. The collagen fiber composite on the base layer of PA/PET had good tensile and tearing strength. Moreover, the composite had good moisture permeability with the viscose fibers as a support base layer. Tension superficielleTags : Polypropylène/Polyéthylène téréphtalate Polypropylène/Polyamide6 Tension interfaciale Index. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : The interfacial tension (IFT) of Polypropylene/Polyamide6 (PP/PA6) and Polypropylene/Polyethylene terephthalate (PP/PET) pairs was evaluated as a function of temperature and Glycidyl Methacrylate grafted PP (PP-g-GMA) content, using the pendant drop method (PDM). PP-g-GMA was used as the compatibilizer in both systems. It was observed that IFT values of both systems showed a linear decrease with increasing temperature. Also, presence of a small amount of PP-g-GMA compatibilizer in the PP phase reduced the IFT of polymeric pairs dramatically, while adding more compatibilizer had no influence on IFT, due to the saturation of the interface. The saturation concentrations of GMA in the PP phase were obtained for 0.05 wt.% and 0.025 wt.% in PP/PA6 and PP/PET systems, respectively. The IFT values of compatibilized systems were reduced by 68% for PP/PA6 and 57% for PP/PET pairs compared to non-compatibilized ones.
