Polyéthylène téréphtalateIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Bottles made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) are increasingly used in the bottling of oxygen-sensitive products with high barrier requirements. This trend is especially evident on the fruit juice shelves of supermarkets. Due to the large amount of time and effort needed for the experimental determination of a bottle’s O2 barrier properties, a numerical approach was investigated with the aim of faster bottle development.

Ce terme s’utilise notamment pour le moulage, l’usinage, la taille d’outils en silex, la fabrication de fibre optique…Index. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : The great influence of temperature on polymer's behavior is well known and a 10°C increase can lead to a 10-time reduction of the viscosity near the glass transition temperature. To manage accurate simulation of thermoforming processes, and particularly the stretch blow molding process that is managed in the vicinity of Tg, it is necessary to take into account the self heating phenomena that may have impact on induced properties. In the particular case of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), injected preforms have been blown with different initial temperature and followed using a thermal camera. For an identical final volume of the blown preform, the influence of initial temperature on self-heating is discussed. Back to room temperature, induced mechanical properties are measured using digital image correlation: bottles are blown under different pressures and the strain fields are measured. Using the virtual field method on a region of interest of the bottle, these results allow the identification of the induced mechanical properties. Comparison between the self-heating and the induced modulus is managed and the effect of the self heating on the free blown shapes and induced properties is discussed.

Teinture -- Fibres textiles synthétiquesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : In the conventional dyeing process, polyester and its blended fabrics are usually dyed in a weak acidic medium. In order to reduce cost and improve production efficiency, a new dyeing method – one-step dyeing of polyethylene terephthalate fabrics, combining pretreatment and dyeing in alkali conditions – was investigated. The alkali-stable disperse dyes Red 900, Red 902, Yellow BROB and Blue 825 were used to dye polyethylene terephthalate fabrics. The dyeing properties of polyethylene terephthalate fabrics in the case of one-step dyeing at various pH values or sodium hydroxide concentrations were discussed in terms of colour yield, colour parameters and fastness. The performance of one-step dyeing using alkali-stable disperse dyes was excellent. The dyed fabric had good fastness. Wet processing could be combined and shortened. One-step dyeing of polyethylene terephthalate fabrics could reduce the consumption of water and energy and improve production efficiency. One-step dyeing of polyethylene terephthalate has potential application in cleaner textile production.
Solidité de la couleurIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Textile pigment printing and dyeing is an environmentally friendly and sustainable clean production technology that has the advantages of saving water, saving energy and reducing pollution. However, the application of this technology in industry is severely limited because of the disadvantages of stiff hand feeling, poor wet rubbing fastness and other performance properties of traditional pigment-printed fabric. To improve the pigment printing performance, a novel method of preparing hybrid pigment latex containing silicone by one-step mini-emulsion copolymerisation of silicone and acrylic monomers was explored in this work. Here, a comprehensive study of the effect of the ratio of silicone and acrylic, and the silicone component of alkoxysilane and cyclic siloxanes, on the properties of hybrid latex films and pigment-printed polyester fibres, was conducted. It was found that, with an increasing amount of silicone, the hybrid pigment latex films gradually enhanced the water resistance, flexibility and thermal stability properties. Those water repellencies and smooth feeling properties were achieved by incorporating the hydrophobicity and the flexibility of the copolymer chains of silicone. The waterborne self-adhesive hybrid pigment containing silicone can be directly applied for pigment printing of polyester fabric. Compared with the control printing system (without silicone), it not only exhibited an equivalent colour strength, but also improved the colour fastness and hand feel. Based on these results, this approach may provide insights into the rational design of waterborne self-adhesive textile hybrid pigments for high-quality printing performance.
