The as-synthesized pigments are characterized in detail by means of different techniques including X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, and colorimetry. The influence of various factors on the transformation from Fe(OH)3 coating layer to crystalline hematite coating layer is investigated, respectively. Furthermore, this paper studies several critical technological parameters pertaining to the influences on morphology and color properties of the pigments such as the coating temperature and the pH value. Note de contenu : - The catalysis of Fe(II) on the transformation of Fe(OH)3 coated on mica
- The effect of the coating temperature

Transition vitreuseIndex. décimale : 668.9 Polymères Résumé : Crosslinking reactions involving epoxy homopolymerization of 100% biobased epoxidized sucrose esters (ESEs) were studied and the resulting coatings properties were compared against epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) and petrochemical-based soybean fatty acid ester resins. The low viscosity of ESE resins allowed for formulations to be developed with minimal volatile organic content. ESEs were found to have superior coatings properties, compared to ESO and the petrochemical-based soybean esters, attributable to a higher glass transition temperature (T g) and a higher modulus. The rigid sucrose core on ESEs provided an increase in coating performance when compared to coatings from epoxidized resins synthesized with tripentaeryithritol as a core. The degree of conversion and optimization of the curing conditions were studied using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Thermal analysis of cured coatings was performed using DSC, dynamic mechanical analysis, and thermogravimetric analysis. In order to further enhance the coatings properties, small amounts of bisphenol A epoxy resin were added which resulted in higher moduli and Tgs. Chimie écologiqueIndex. décimale : 540 Chimie et sciences connexes Résumé : The respect of environment in the production of bulk compounds or chemical specialties is a requirement for the chemistry of the future. Because it is one of the best means to generate selective reactions producing a few byproducts and induce new reactivities, and because it is sparing of energy and matter, catalysis in all its forms represents a major asset for clean chemistry.
