ViscositéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Two-component (2K) polyurethane coatings are widely used as the top layer of protective coatings systems to provide performance benefits, such as UV durability, flexibility and chemical resistance. However, these 2K products are coming under increasing scrutiny due to the presence of unreacted isocyanate in the uncured formulation. There have been efforts made ta develop non-isocyanate based coatings however, it is a challenge to do so while providing ail performance benefits of a 2K Polyurethane coating. A new non¬isocyanate moisture curable silylated resin for protective coating applications is discussed in this paper. This resin is targeted to enable the coating formulator ta develop a one¬component (1K) non-isocyanate coating that provides performance on par with the current 2K polyurethane coatings. Some of the key coating properties that were studied and are . discussed herein are UV durability, flexibility, corrosion resistance and chemical resistance. Through close technical collaboration between a coatings developer and a specialty chemicals company, products and process conditions were optimized to achieve excellent coating quality and durability. Furthermore, for industrial manufacturing, this platforms negligible emission levels address the growing regulatory demand for VOC-free solutions. With substantial cost savings and the potential for high build rates, PuriCoat makes coated visible interior and exterior parts more accessible than ever. Vernis -- Propriétés mécaniquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Innovation and product development in the coatings industry is being driven by efforts to lower the levels of volatile organic compounds in organic coatings and by growing concern about the adverse effects of harmful, toxic coating components on health. The standard industrial technology for high-performance ambient-to-low-stoving coatings on metal, wood and plastic substrates utilises solvent-borne 2-pack isocyanate binders. The switchover to 2-pack water-borne systems has been hampered by the blistering caused by the reaction of isocyanates with water - until now.

VernisIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Radiation curable formulations have been developed for use in preparation of finishes suitable for patent leather. Curing can be achieved by either ultraviolet or electron beam irradiation. In contrast to conventional methods, complete finish application is obtained rapidly, without the use of heating ovens, and with no air pollution. Patent leather produced by this process exhibits good gloss and flexibility and excellent abrasion resistance. Flexibility was affected by the type and amount of crosslinking agent incorporated into the coating as well as by the acrylated urethane oligomer used as the coating backbone. The effects of varying the formulation on final finish properties are discussed. Note de contenu : - TABLE I : Variation of gloss with coating thickness
