ViscositéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Two-component (2K) polyurethane coatings are widely used as the top layer of protective coatings systems to provide performance benefits, such as UV durability, flexibility and chemical resistance. However, these 2K products are coming under increasing scrutiny due to the presence of unreacted isocyanate in the uncured formulation. There have been efforts made ta develop non-isocyanate based coatings however, it is a challenge to do so while providing ail performance benefits of a 2K Polyurethane coating. A new non¬isocyanate moisture curable silylated resin for protective coating applications is discussed in this paper. This resin is targeted to enable the coating formulator ta develop a one¬component (1K) non-isocyanate coating that provides performance on par with the current 2K polyurethane coatings. Some of the key coating properties that were studied and are . discussed herein are UV durability, flexibility, corrosion resistance and chemical resistance.

Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Based on the demand of carbon peak and carbon emission reduction strategy, divinyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxane (ViPDMSVi), poly(methylhydrosiloxane) (PMHS), divinyl-terminated polymethylvinylsiloxane (ViPMVSVi), and fumed silica were used as primary raw materials, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) synthetic leather coating was in situ constructed by thermally induced hydrosilylation polymerization on the synthetic leather substrate. The effect of the viscosity of ViPDMSVi, the active hydrogen content of PMHS, the molar ratio of vinyl groups to active hydrogen, the dosage of ViPMVSVi and fumed silica on the performance of PDMS polymer coating, including mechanical properties, cold resistance, flexural resistance, abrasion resistance, hydrophobic and anti-fouling properties were investigated. The results show that ViPDMSVi with high vinyl content and PMHS with low active hydrogen content is more conducive to obtaining organosilicon coating with better mechanical properties, the optimized dosage of ViPMVSVi and fumed silica was 7 wt% and 40 wt%, respectively. In this case, the tensile strength and the broken elongation of the PDMS polymer coating reached 5.96 MPa and 481%, showing reasonable mechanical properties for leather coating. Compared with polyurethane based or polyvinyl chloride based synthetic leather, the silicon based synthetic leather prepared by this method exhibits excellent cold resistance, abrasion resistance, super hydrophobicity, and anti-fouling characteristics.

ViscositéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Synthesis of a non-film forming product for wood protection based on silylated linseed oil with the objective of obtaining an innovative oil-based product for superficial wood treatment with a permanent hydrophobic effect is described. Product containing different molar ratios of oil and silane were synthesised and characterised. The goals were to monitor the silylation process with the use of VTMOS and to evaluate some of the physico-chemical properties of the polymers obtained. The structures of the new polymers were determined by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy and selected physico-chemical properties (eg. iodine value, viscosity) were also determined. The results show that the modified oil is storagestable and its basic functional properties in a liquid state are comparable with reference products. Physical porperty data indicates that the resultant bio-based polymers are suitable for wood treatment as non-film forming products. Note de contenu : - Materials

Surfaces (technologie)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Cellulosic films are typically sensitive towards moisture which limits their industrial applicability. In this study the films made from cellulose nanofibrils (CNF) were surface silylated with hexamethyldisiloxane (HMDSO) by roll-to-roll plasma deposition. The effects on surface hydrophobicity were clear and indisputable. Water contact angles of non-modified and plasma-deposited CNF films were 23° and 103°, respectively. As a result of surface silylation the relative polarity decreased from 46.8% to 0.6%. Surface hydrophobicity correlated well with the plasma deposition line speeds (0.5, 5, and 10 m/min) and the water vapor barrier properties. Silylation also decreased the oxygen transmission rates both at 50% and 80% relative humidity as compared to non-modified CNF films. All films were completely impermeable to olive oil and intact in contact with castor oil, toluene, and n-heptane or mixtures of them. The developed surface hydrophobization method can be exploited in strengthening the position of cellulosic films in high performance film applications.
