Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : UV is by far the most common source of radiation-curing energy, and is widely used for coatings on heat-sensitive substrates. It has expanded significantly into a multiplicity of other applications, this expansion being driven by performance, economics and environmental considerations. However, EB technology can be more relevant in some high-speed and high-volume applications and can be expected to contribute substantially to the growth of radiation curing in the future.
(Wikipedia)

ThermochromieIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Thermochromic coatings are special effect coatings that change colour when the temperature changes. The colour changing function contributes to its most important benefit: bringing additional functions to routine items, such as a temperature indicating feature, food quality indicator, or authenticity verification. However, thermochromic coatings are usually sensitive to UV light or in-room light exposure. UV light would damage the thermochromic compounds and ruin the colour changing ability and hence, limit its application range. To expand the application of thermochromic coatings, solving the UV-sensitive issue is necessary. The purpose of this study was to find suitable solutions to solve the fading problems of thermochromic coatings.
Design of Experiment (DOE) method and statistical software were used to analyse the correlation of light stabiliser dosage and dry film thickness (DFT) after the QUV¬accelerated weathering test. According to the calculated results, the influence level of a novel light stabiliser (NLS) on colour difference value is 69%, while the influence level of DFT is 20%. Furthermore, we tested the protective effect of different dosages of NLS on the colour changing ability for thermochromic coatings after 72hr QUV exposure. According to our results, 3% and 5% of NLS both provide excellent protection and help the thermochromic coating to maintain its colour changing function after UV light exposure. / mATNote de contenu : - EXPERIMENT : Materials - Equipment - Methods - QUV accelerated weathering test - High temperature optical data test method

TriglycéridesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In this study, Poly(styrene-co-chloromethyl styrene) [Poly(St-co-CMS)] was prepared and used in the modification of triglyceride oils. The obtained modified triglyceride product was examined in view of oil-based binder. Nitroxide-mediated radical polymerization (NMRP) technique was applied for Poly(St-co-CMS) synthesis. Chloro groups on the Poly(St-co-CMS) backbone were reacted with 2-amino-1-butanol (2-AB) in order to obtain a polymer with hydroxyl ended side branches, [Poly(St—OH)], which were further combined with partial glycerides (PGs) through the reaction with toluene diisocyanate (TDI). The resulting product can also be considered as a polystyrene-modified urethane oil [Poly(St-OH)-SUO]. The structures of both intermediates, [Poly(St-co-CMS), Poly(St—OH)], and final products [Poly(St-OH)-SUO] were verified by using FTIR and 1H-NMR analyses. Additionally, thermal properties of the samples were determined. The film properties of Poly(St-OH)-SUO samples prepared with different polymer/oil ratios and classic urethane oil were examined. Poly(St-OH)-SUO-40 sample exhibited the best film properties among the others. In the end, the obtained results showed that Poly(St-OH)-SUO-40 could be utilized as an oil-based binder.
Vapeur d'eauIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : A water-based thermally-responsive polyurethane (TRPU), based on the crystalline soft segment from the reaction of polycaprolactone diol (PCL) with isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) and the crystalline hard segment from the reaction of IPDI -1,4-butanediol (BDO) together with dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA), was synthesized and used in water vapour permeable leather finishing.
Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Dynamic Mechanical Thermal Analyzer (DMTA), water swelling and water vapour permeability (WVP) were measured to evaluate how the structure of PU and the temperature influence the WVP of PU films and finished leathers.
In contrast to common polyurethane elastomer (PUE) with an amorphous reversible phase, the TRPU with a crystalline reversible phase shows a phase-separated structure and a phased transition temperature (Ttrans) at normal use temperature. The water swelling and water vapour permeability of both TRPU film and finished leather are found to depend on the inner structure of the polymers and the temperature. When the temperature exceeds the Ttrans, a significant increase of WVP from 4100g/m2/day to 10500g/m2/day was observed for finished leather in spite of some decrease of WVP compared with un-finished leather. Leather finished with common PUE appears to have a low WVP and only a slightly increased value over the temperature range.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE : Material, preparation of polyurethane and testing - Film casting and leather specimen preparation - Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and
