In formulations containing primary or secondary hydroxylated diol the major part of the crosslinker is consumed by trans-etherification reactions and self-condensation. The aromatic nature of TDI imparts rigidity while the aliphatic IPDI results in flexibility of the backbone chain of oligomer. The profile of cure schedules has been determined in the form of a cure window which measures the extent of reaction in terms of crosslink density as a function of bake temperature. The experimentally determined properties like tensile strength and MEK rub-resistance have been taken into consideration for fixing the lower and upper limits of XLD in designing the cure windows of individual coating formulations. The baking schedules of coatings have also been expressed in the form of nominal and true cure windows.
(Wikipedia)

Réticulation (polymérisation)Index. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Crosslinked hyaluronic acid-based hydrogels (crossHA) have been widely used in the cosmetic industry as injectable dermal fillers. However, HA hydrogels also emerge as interesting raw materials for cosmetic topical products with various other potential benefits. ln this work, we developed and characterized a new type of crossHA (crossHA-3 ; INCI Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer-3) in a powder form dedicated for the topical cosmetic application and tested its properties in vitro and in vivo on human volunteers.
CrossHA-3 powder is fully soluble in water creating a soft hydrogel microparticle suspension macroscopically resembling true solution. Large amount of water absorbed in the porous structure of crossHA-3 effectively moisturizes the skin in vive. CrossHA-3 also creates a protective film on the skin surface and immediately and visibly reduces even deep mimic wrinkles. Because crossHA-3 is less susceptible to enzymatic degradation than HA, it stays longer on the skin surface and so its anti-wrinkle effect is prolonged. Beside water, crossHA-3 can absorb various cosmetic active ingredients in its pores and ensures their continuous, long-term delivery into the skin leading to their more effective utilization by the skin tells as we showed in another in vivo study using niacinamide (vitamin B3) as a model cosmetic active ingredient.Note de contenu : - INTRODUCTION : Hyaluronic acid (HA)-based hydrogels

Revêtements en phase aqueuse:Peinture en phase aqueuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : An epoxy resin was used to prepare crosslinked polyurethane hybrid emulsion through the blocked NCO prepolymer mixing process. Due to their hydrophobicity, the amine chain extender, blocked –NCO, and epoxy are located inside the emulsion particles. Thus, the crosslinking reaction occurs mostly in the interior of the particles. In this way, the crosslinking density of the resin is increased without the use of solidifying agents or heating during film formation, and the stability of the emulsions remains uninfluenced. The effects of the type of amine chain extender and the type, dosage, and addition mode of the epoxy resin were studied in terms of mechanical properties and swelling properties in water and toluene of the cast films. Additionally, the stability of the single-pack hybrid emulsion was studied. The results showed that the sample prepared with diethylene triamine had good stability, chemical resistance, and high mechanical strength. The modulus and water resistance of the films increased with the epoxy resin content, which could reach 20 wt %. The type of amine chain extender affected the stability of the emulsions significantly. The molar ratio of NH/NCO at 1:1 led to the best film performance. The optimal temperature of the chain-extension reaction was approximately 80°C. The hybrid emulsions could be stored for at least 6 months without apparent performance changes.

Revêtements sans isocyanatesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A hydroxyl/carboxyl functional low molecular weight polyurethane dispersion was prepared by a nonisocyanate process. It was compared to a conventional high molecular weight polyurethane dispersion in films cured with melamine-formaldehyde resins. Stress-strain studies and solvent swelling experiments were used to characterize network formation and determine crosslink density. The morphology of the films prepared from the two types of polyurethanes were different, and coatings performance advantages were found with the low molecular weight polyurethane dispersion. Surface analysis by FTIR ATR indicates a more uniform distribution of melamine crosslinker in the cured low molecular weight polyurethane coating. Revêtements en phase aqueuse:Peinture en phase aqueuseIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Designing optimal formulations for automotive waterborne basecoats can be fairly complex, often requiring knowledge of events that occur at the molecular level. The ultimate performatce of the coating can depend upon the success with which this knowledge is applied. We examine a system in which an aqueous dispersion of an acrylic latex with -OH functionality reacts with a melamine derivative when heated. We use fluorescence-labeling and energy transfer measurements to obtain information on the relative rates of crosslinking and interparticle polymer diffusion in these films. We show that temperature and particle morphology play an important role in the development of film properties. Finally, these energy transfer experiments provide information on the location of the melamine-formaldehyde resin in the dry film before the onset of crosslinking. This system can serve as a model for waterborne basecoat development in many automotive applications.
